yeah! like when you own quality books,it still has the appeal to the reading enthusiasts,for example. but maybe the internet has gradually and sort of replaced these books as people find it more accessible.

There are people who collect cars but don't drive them. Similarly, there are people who collect books simply for the sake of materially acquiring the physical aspect of the book. For instance, I may buy the latest Clancy thriller in hardbound, but chances are, I'd be reading a PDF copy of it more, than sitting down and actually leafing through physical pages--basin magisi pa, or matapunan ng kape, eh di sayang ang investment.

I hope not..=) Ebooks are okay but nothing beats reading from a good ole' book dyud na relaxing rather than getting a headache from staring at the pc/palm for pila ka straight hours..=)

books will always remain for as long as there are readers who love to read, own and buy books. each day, a future writer or reader is born. books are never out of style. the internet does not intimidate it. personally i like to read a book, not an e-book. musakit lang akong mata anang e-book. kalas pa kuryente!

Once upon a time, perhaps just after the practical telephone was invented, a crazy inventor started to think of a telephone you can carry anywhere...I mean, think of the possibilities! You could be on a train, or in the bathroom, and still be able to call someone without having to deal with wires!

But then people laughed and frowned at this man...they started saying things like "...eeh, I wouldn't want to carry that big hefty telephone around, it's too impractical" or "I wouldn't want to get embarrassed talking to an invisible person on a bus!" or "certainly the batteries on that contraption wouldn't last a minute!"

Ergo, the more narrow minded you are, the less exciting the future will be.

I envision ebooks of the future to be exactly as convenient as a real book, but with added benefits, and not taking away any of the existing benefits that real books have.

Cellphones are not frowned upon today, yet we also accept and understand that there are times when a land line is more convenient to use, but that doesn't necessarily demean the value and importance of a cellphone. Similarly, one day, in a few years from now, ebooks printed on electronic paper will also be as widely accepted as a cellphone.

Open your mind--think out of the box.

I think it will come to a point where books will be more of a keepsake nalang. In this time & age when technology grows by leaps and bounds, books are bound to become obsolete. As for me? Well, nothing beats curling up on the couch with a good paperback with the occasional rustle of a page being turned.
