I think very best way to getting good ranking is always content, not just content but unique and relevant content as to the theme of your site.

You can have the most boring website but with very quality content then, you are on the right track. That is why blogging is a sure way of getting high rank because of its composition and content based format.

Another thing, word density is another trick to a successful SEO.

Yes possible na sya, in fact blogspot blogs are subdomains of the main domain blogspot.com yet they are considered as a separate site. Subdomains are considered separate sites to the main domain. Subfolders on the other hand are considered part of the main domain.

Any contents of a subdomain is rank separately and contents of a subfolder is for the parent domain.

very interesting thread here... the thing about SEO is, its all conjecture and based on experience, experience that yielded good results, if you depend primarily on SEO, your rankings CAN disappear as fast as an algorithm change happens...

the solution is .. great original and unique content.. coupled with an effective link build strategy, observe the very basic guidelines to link building and search rankings will improve on its own, without you having to game the search engines or to trouble yourself analyzing SE algorithms..

I also agree with Simon that a loyal fan base beats search engine optimization, but actually the word is not beat, but enhances.. because a loyal fan base of a site can deliver repeat visitors that also improve your search rankings, especially if your bounce rates are low, and users spend longer time on the site.. going through multiple pages of content

if a visitor finds your site through a keyword phrase, but leaves the site from the same entry page, only spending a few seconds, you will certainly not rank well for that keyword phrase.. because the content on the page was not relevant to the visitor as evidenced by visitor behavior, search engines are all about that one word... RELEVANCE

I have 1 crappy looking site/blog that specifically targets the Filipino market, which i have not updated with new content for maybe almost a year... and gets visits for the words, radio advertising.. on Google. Since visitors stay long, and browse multiple pages, their behavior proves that the site is relevant to them, hence.. it is number 1 for that keyword, and other keywords which are related to the niche that site belongs to.

how about this.. i have a boring crap content all of which does not exceed 300 words.. still i rank on 1st on those keywords..

for word density... i doubt if this thing is real.. others have found it that it does not work the way they are proclaiming it...

yes, content is king... QUALITY or NOT... try to blog hop and and you'll found that a lot of PR3 sites don't contain much of a powerful content, hence, i will on stick on the idea that you should update your blogs regularly.. thats it...

and the most important thing is...Link building.. and use the right anchor text..

lastly, there's no certain guide on how to rank ..all of which are mere observation.. why?.. nobody knows how google works..
