manila is the capital of the philippines. our country's seat of government and media center are in manila, so it isnt a surprise y manila schools get most of the attention.
i jus hate that manila centric attitude. wen u ask people in manila to name their top ten best universities in the country, they would most likely name all ten schools from manila. UPd, DLSU, ADMU and UST are the coutnry's best indeed, these are the only philippine schools which made it to the THE QS survey. provincial schools complete the rest of the top ten list for me.
provincial schools like SLU in baguio, USC - Cebu, Siliman dumaguete, MSU iligan, ateneo davao and xavier in cagayan belong to the top ten best universities in the country. these schools are waaay better than most universities in manila(with the exception of the big 4: up, admu, dlsu and ust).
MSU is very good iin engineering! i believe it is at par with UPd.
USC law is consistent in the top five best law school in the country. USC law outranked UPd and san beda in 2005, it was second only to ateneo.
.. yes, they are overhyped. When I had my board exam, i saw that students from Manila are very much assuming and are big-headed but when the results came, their passing percentage is low. In our batch, we were 24 from SWU and only 2 failed.
Exactly my thoughts.
hay... overhyped daw ako school.. school spirit compels me to defend it's honor..
okay here it goes.. meh, i got nothing.. everyone knows UST is still one of the best in Medicine, Nursing, CPA, Arki.. so whatever.. doesn't really matter to me, fine arts man ko and we know we're the best, hehe, at least sa industrial design..
go uste
i agree because students from the province probably wants it more badly and constantly needs to prove something but i have to say the training and facilities in manila schools are far better. just imagine if students in the province will be given the same training, facilities and exposure.
