To be an OFW -- What are the Tradeoffs?

I guess one of the trade- offs is to be away from your own family. An OFW cannot personally look for the welfare of their children. In some cases, the children could not even fully understand why do their parents have to be away from them sometime.

Also, economically, these OFWs would have to take the risks when they go abroad. They have to wish that the peso would get weaker so that their salaries will get higher. Ironically, they are happy if the peso weakens because the remittances their families receive are higher. I guess this would be the underlying reason why OFWs are not happy that our peso is getting stronger than ever even if a stronger peso is good for the country.

social cost is the worst, i myself, is a son of an OFW, my father stays only a few months in a year and works abroad most of the time. at least karon i am quite stable emotionally, but kato nga time nga kelangan jud ka ug parental comfort, appreciation, attention, warmth, presence ug tanan pa nga makita sa mga bata nga naa ilang parents, wala jud naa sa ako sauna. u may have all the material desires you want but u cant swap for the parental longing that you need.

so i believe being AN OFW would also be mindset. if you prioritize MONEY above relationship to your family, then leaving abroad would be great choice. but if have more grander plans, u may be an OFW temporarily (let's say for 2 years), and after you save, do it for business or be an immigrant with your family. wats important is you are there, you are present, you are living together with your family, at the same time, you are happy and fulfilled.

most people are in a situation when you have money, but you don't feel the presence from your parents, but if you do have the latter, then you might have a problem in buying things what you want and especially what you need. but the worst case is you might not have both.

For me, I am greatful for what I have and I dont dwell things that I dont have, although I know one thing that could keep us going is our ambition ,but what I mean is that I don't compare myself to other people, I just do things the way I do best.
