Do you guys find it funny that we always hear this phrase "IT'S NOT THE CAMERA or the LENS, it's the PHOTOGRAPHER". I would say, it depends on how far you would go on your photography. Because technically, you will need good camera and good lens for some shots wherein a POINT AND SHOOT can not do. I find it ironic My point is, every camera and lens has it's limitations. Surely a point and shoot comes in handy but a dSLR with a range of lenses is pretty much amazing

Good points. It's true that you will be limited by what camera/lens you are using. But a good photographer will be able to make the most out of whatever camera gear is on hand, find a way around those limitations, and come out with good pictures.

Give a lousy photographer the best dSLR with a pro lens and give a seasoned pro a point&shoot. Guess who'll come out with the better shots

So now, which came first? The chicken or the egg?

I was referring to the TECHNICAL SIDE vs THE SAYING. Not the CHICKEN EGG issue

err...i don't think abortretryfail literally meant the chicken and the egg.

and i agree with eissen, i've seen good pictures taken with P&S cameras and i've seen really bad shots with DSLRs. the point being, no matter what your gear is it still boils down to the skill of using these gears.

the gears are just tools to enhance our skills.

it would have been better kung blur blur ang background...a nice bokeh would have brought out the photo even more
also lighting on the face area would have been good sad
thanks for the comments and suggestions bai mark. anyway, ang details akong na gi-post sa image.

the shot was taken during the 1st quickflight downhill mountainbiking competition last july 10, 2005

both pics were taken on a hazy morning on our way to bohol. with the small size of the posted pic you wont notice the diffrence in quality. the p&s camera has lesser quality but the composition of the particular pic taken with it is i think better (imho) than the one i took with the dslr. . . . .Â* happy shooting

    ayon...
try lowering the F-stop to get a better blur on the background.
ISO200 would have been enough i think...better detail and less noise
