Monitor turns off, PC freezes (help!)

I need help with regards to my PCs annoying behavior. Recently, i noticed that my monitor's display will just turn off intermittently with a message, "no signal". Then my PC freezes. It doesn't restart or shutdown, it will just stop responding and the monitor doesn't turn its display again unless i restart my PC.

Could this be a problem with my video card or motherboard? Uhmmm, i think this isn't a virus issue.
Quite annoying jd because this was only bought last february and this isn't used most often. No games installed.


Specs. Intel 4500 (42-45 deg. C ra ang temp. when the problem occurred)
Asus P5KPL-VM
ATI Sapphire HD 2400 PRO 256MB DDR2 PCI-E

how sure r u it isn't virus/spyware ?
yes, it could be hardware problem. u said - not used often, how about opening up ur cpu then re-insert ur video card, ur mems, and visually check everything else there. do u have any other peripheral installed?

I already used McAfee and AVG anti-virus softwares to scan my PC and both found nothing. I have also re-inserted my video card and still the same thing happened. Aha, good thing you mentioned about peripherals. It might be my soundcard. It's pretty old already, a leftover from my old PC. hmmmm.... but i really suspect it's my videocard causing the problem. How do i check the sanity of my videocard?

correct me if i'm wrong but I think you MOBO has a built-in VGA port, try using those port and check if problem occurs.

hmmm, i have just observed that this problem occurs everytime i access streaming sites like youtube.

Not sure though if it's because of the streaming sites ky usahay dili man mu-freeze and mu-turn off dayon ako pc/monitor when i access those sites.

Maybe it was just coincidence (in this world there is no such thing as coincidence---only inevitability).. anyways, try the suggestion of torade.. check lang if you could use the port without having the same syndromes..
