I talked to my sis yesterday and I was so surprised nga ang duha ka classmate daw sa among pag umangkon kay gikawatan ug cell while walking sa Capitol. Then the robber shoot both of them and ang isa daw namatay pero ang isa wala. Ingon ana na gyud d ay kakuyaw ang Cebu karon?

Then even daw sa SM or Ayala daghan sad daw mga pick pocketers. Kay akong mom naku utan ug 10k sa SM din akong lola naku utan ug 15k sa Ayala(separate occasion).


Unsa man imong buhaton kung tulison ka?
Allowed ba ang civilian nga magdala ug weapon(like gun) or at least pepper spray?
Motabang ba ang mga police dinha?
Ga offer naba ang mga bank ug cc dinha?
Last time ang ako ra nahibal-an kay citibank raman, where mag deposito ka ug money para makagamit ka sa cc kung naa ka paliton sa SM or Ayala.

I'm just a concerned Cebuana. Kinsa pa may turista ang ganahan mo anha sa ato-a kung asta imong shades langkaton, asta cell ug bisan unsa pana dinha, basin kadugayan ato ng sinina ang langkaton haha.

all i can say is this happens anywhere in the world...if it's meant to happen to you then it will happen to you no matter where you are in the world.so don't keep on worrying and then miss the nice nice things in life and in cebu.

I wanna go to Colon and take some pics sa Colon street pero basin labnihon akong camera >.<. Ok ra nga magdala ko pepper spray? Way back sa late 90's I used to be able to walk from USC main to Plaza independecia para sakay ug jeepney para Opon. I wonder if I can still do that >.<

Is it safe at your own home?

Anywhere, any city, country or household will have lots of risks. I say, statistics should be the judge and not what you read and hear on the media.

I still say, there are parts in Cebu that are hot spots and we should warn our local and foreign tourist on these areas. Hold-ups and snatching are common in any city or barangay. It is a matter of how you are sending the message to the robbers,. If you are always walking in a dark alley or an uncrowded area which is a high risk for hold-ups and crime, you should not wear fancy clothes, jewelry, high heels, and not use your high-end phone. Buy a lower model and if someone tags you, give it to them and for heaven's sake - run! Have a separate list of special numbers you need to copy on your next SIM. How much is it na ba? I have seen SIM cards as low as PHP25. There are cell phones now that are sold at less than 3K nga buy 1 take 1. Mao man na ang dali embargohun sa kawatan gud kay mahalin dayon.

I am not saying that those mishaps told in this thread should be forgotten as isolated cases, I onced lived in M. Velez near the Capitol area for more than 10 years and had been a victim of several criminal activities at my own garage! I think there's nothing new. We should be vigilant though on our surroundings and much better to ask your relatives or yourself not to buy the next high end cellphone but a cheap car or motorcycle to keep you from these walking bastards. If they insist, ask to include a pepper spray or stun gun. Practice how to use it though not to animals(literal meaning) but sa mga animal diha!

if i go to colon, simple ra jud ko og sinul-oban... shorts, shirt. dala lang gamay na cash. just enough sa imu kinahanglan... and just bring low end cellphones and hide your high end ones.

This is very correct. If it is meant (called hitsuzen), then it will happen no matter how you avoid it, no matter where you are.
