i think this is one compromise that is inevitable as a particular martial art gets popular. In the case of aikido, a lot of off shoots has emerged from the style created by Uyeshiba. I think the main off shoots were the Hombu style, the Ki Aikido style, and the Tomiki aikido ( the only sport form of aikido). when aikido reached the philippines, the filipinization of aikido by some masters emerged. hence u have now such styles as Tapondo by Monching Gavileno, PHIMACA and others.
I think this is a natural phenomenon that we need to accept. eventually, Aikido will no longer be the Aikido owned by Japan... and i dont exactly know if this is for good or otherwise...
