bro, ur being irrational. u shud know that everyone has to start somewhere. think. Trainers, supervisors, team leads were all agents before. now talking about web designers, do u think you could land that job if you did not go thru the hiring process? these people know what they're getting into. even agents. very basic of what an agent should know is how to speak english. that's the basic thing. aside from that, you should have common sense. the job description is the job title itself, call center agents. it means that you'll be calling or receiving calls. you'll be trained or even not trained for it, just as long as you know how to talk and multi-task, you'll be ok.

I'm not trying to be irrational here. I think it is you because you lack the knowledge and background of the issue that you are talking about. When you want to to make a rebuttal with my argument, make sure you you have a solid evidence.

Supervisors and team leads are the same. Just like call center agent is the same as eRep. Not all team leads and trainers are former call center agents. That holds true with other companies that don't belong to the call center industry. Although, I must agree that most of them start from the bottom like a call center agent, clerk, store crew, barista, etc. A perfect example is the former ACE Cebu Supervisor, Jeff Garcia. Jeff didn't have any call center experience when he was hired as a trainer. He usually mention that during his first day of ACE Training. If you don't believe in all the things that I mentioned right now, you can ask the friendly neighborhood HR and they would tell you that some of the applicants and some who got hired didn't start from the bottom position or entry level. You can even ask Velvett about that, right Velvett? You can even ask the HR staff of various companies like restaurants and department stores.

"you'll be trained or even not trained for it, just as long as you know how to talk and multi-task, you'll be ok."

Your statement also holds true not only for the call center agent position but also with other positions as well. What do you mean by "you will be trained or not trained for it"? Its quite confusing or contradicting to your previous statements. There are agents who doesn't know what they are getting into thats why they resign. They cant handle swing shifts, work during holidays, answering challenging customers, etc. Those are some of the reasons that the agents mention during their exit interview when they resign.

"just as long as you know how to talk and multi-task, you'll be ok"

Based on your statement, that means that call center agent already know what to do or can already take calls the moment that they are hired and theres no need for them to go on training. Well, I'm sure all of those who got hired in a call center already knew how to use the phone and they have experienced talking to people through phone. I also assume that they have cellphones and tried talking to someone using that gadget. Why is it there are still some who doesn't know how to handle a call?

Somehow i asked myself this question prior to applying to this company, never realizing whats up ahead and just took up the challenge to start all over again, though a 'newbie' to the company, i realize that everything is a-ok for me, may not be ok for the previous employees who worked here before for some reason, but for me so far so good and i tend to keep it that way. I really dont think there's a perfect company, but for me the people you work with matters alot, and i find the people here in Tt very easy to get along with, from our trainers, to our tier2's, to some of the TLs i've met and the other agents just like me, so i would say its A-OK. I really hope to share this experience with aspiring applicants who want to work here, and personally, i'm grateful for being able to work here in Teletech. Can't wait to go to work, learn, and learn more again later.

@ circuit explosion: hala naay bag-ong champion. Ikaw na diay na! Hahaha. Active lagi kaau ta sa thread, sa?

Yep, Jeff Garcia never was an agent but he learned very FAST unlike some people who are still so tanga. If you want to suvive this industry, be a fast learner, ask questions and store the things you have learned in that thing between your head. And oh, gamita ang imong nahibal-an. You just do not ask for people to respect you, you have to earn it.
