There you can chat the Customer Care Rep and ask about the RV082. I know this is very annoying but I done that before and they chatted me, and I solved the problem. Good luck....

bulok ang VPN feature anang RV series. I know, i used to have a RV016. before i tried settin up a Client-GW VPN, a few minutes after the client gets authenticated/connected, the client connection mysteriously drops.i was unable to resolve that issue nor the Linksys CS. what i did was setup a Win2k3 server to act as the authentication server, i was able to integrate the authentication with the active directory.

few months after my boss asked me to put up a GW-GW VPN with our sister company in India. I was able connect our office to the remote vpn server but after a few minutes the router will lockup and reboot. after hours and days of troubleshooting, ive came to a conclusion that the RV series is really just for basic network setup. only good for a few NAT rules and port forward here and there.

If you have no other options, i suggest you keep your configuration to a minimum. carefully plan what rules you want to apply using SPI, cause based from my experience, the more rules you put in there the slower the routers functions.

another thing, RVs LoadBalancing feature isnt that efficient

    just my 2 cents

RV Series is just for good for small business. One thing to be sure is that, you should update your router's firmware as well as the LinkSysQuickVPN client. LinkSys are still working for the issues and problems on it. This year they have the latest firmware in order to solve the issues encountering by their customers.

By the way jdimpas, you should be able to work your Client to Gateway Setup using the RV082 VPN router. As long as you have already the Static IP address, and your ISP modem/router is in bridge mode. Remember if you are in bridge mode, you should ask your ISP provider about the username and password. The ISP provider should provide you that. These username and password should be used also in the configuration of your RV082 VPN router and you should select PPPoE setting.

    @ jdimpas

if that rv series is having issues, why dont you use the virtual network connection instead. its nearly same with that virtual private network. its also tunneling with encryption built-in. it can be setup with or without a router. you can even remote the client/s you have there anywhere in the world.
