    Reannexation?

But wait. Was the Philippines once a part of the United States? My thinking is that the Philippines was only a colony of the US beginning after the Spanish-American war in the country and openly until the Commonwealth. When the Thomasites --- so called on their being on board S/S Thomas --- came to teach us Filipinos "planting rice is never fun", they came to strenthen the strangulation by the US colonial powers.

I agree the US does not want the Philippines. In their imperialist expansionist economy, the Philippines is more profitable to them in the ways it is today.

So there is nothing to talk about reannexation. Perhaps you mean the "US Statehood for the Philippines" which no powers-that-be in the US would even slightly whisper around.

For every dollar that they "invest " in our country, they take out seven dollars in profit in a calendar year. The US would do everything in it's power to maintain this equation.
It's China actually that the US is far more interested.... Some in the left are far too assuming to claim that the US wants this wrecked country...

and who says statehood has to be permanent? there will always be youth movements wanting independance, we do not need US Statehood forever, just for the time being until we can run our own country. by the time we are stable enough, let our children decide if we are ready to fight for another independance movement.

Remember... at the currernt rate, the Philippines would be about 25% of the new US Population! that is larger then blacks and other minority groups in the US combined!.. even the gays. The US population growth rate is slowing down due to liberalization of the female population, who prefer to worry about their career then a family.. and thus average about only 1-2 children each couple. The philippines growth rate is much higher so expect the disparity among whites and filipino so shrink even more.

Be a state until the Philippines thinks it doesn't need the US anymore? lol. I don't think you get the point of being a state. A US state is not the same as a sovereign state. Anyone remember what happened the last time states tried to secede from the Union?

......as I read onto this topic, a great percentage has some very intelligent thoughts....

I tried to paint a picture what would one become if they have the chance to invade the AMERICAN WORLD.
If those working class people on highly Urbanized City like Manila who is struggling to survived for a living,.... In AMERICAN WORLD it is TEN FOLDS!

I would like to put it into my PERSPECTIVE...

To start: LIFE in itself is a STRUGGLE, and if someone would want to elevate it to higher standard more STRUGGLE will come your way....this is a given.... Everyone who wants to achieved better life by going into some other place other than where you were raised and born would be too much of a challenge, no to mention the factor of FAILURE.

Try to asked someone who experienced living/sheltering into other houses, internalized what kind of coping mechanism they have to undergo only to realized that life will end up living by themself and within themself.

How about those BALIKBAYANS who at the end of the day will always recite THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME.

Therefore: If we will be INVADED by the AMERICANS OR TO WHOEVER FOR THAT MATTER, the COPING MECHANISM THAT ALL OF US HAS TO UNDERGO WOULD BE TREMENDOUS, WE WILL BE AT THEIR MERCY. ( Slavery is a Big It in America TOO) THE KIND OF ADJUSTMENT THAT CAN ONLY BE WITHSTAND MOSTLY TO THOSE WHO HAVE THE INTELLECT (Filipinos dont have it)(emphasis on the Understanding about lifes Success and Failures), MIGHT ( even to their votes they can not protect it )( for the amount they receive from those candidate would be the only time they expereince feast on their plate)......
And True, We may be very VOCAL on our Struggle to survive, not to mention to breathe a better life, Sad to Say AMERICANS HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS AND SOMETIMES WORSE.... FOR ONE.... PHILIPPINES OWE MONEY IN BILLIONS!!!!! YEAH, AND THE AMERICANS IN TRILLIONS!!!!!

Ive heard a lot of people who has the CAPACITY to venture ABROAD and low on funds. the goverment can look into it as a very good investment....
Say let those family borrow money with little interest since we considered them as HEROES in terms of sending there hard earned money back to the Philippines.... THE MAYOR OF CEBU is starting to IMPLEMENT similar project, although its local the positive outlook to this would be HUMONGOUS.

Very rare weve heard this people who are in abroad FAILED us both in REPUTATION AND ECONOMIC PROGRESS.

Banking on them is not a BAD THING TO START.
And this can be contagious, turning bad things into good ones.
Bad because the Cream of Our Crop are Leaving Us, Good because it will improve our Economy.

Then and only then the talks of Surrendering Our Native Land To Foreigners will Lessen or Seized.RECOGNIZING THOSE WHO CAN HELP IMPROVE THEIR LIFE AND THEIR FAMILY AND THEIR COMMUNITY AND ULTIMATELY THEIR COUNTRY!!!!!
"ASK NOT WHAT YOUR COUNTRY CAN DO TO YOU, BUT WHAT YOU CAN DO TO YOUR COUNTRY........"
