"Ordinary Snapshots" because ANYBODY can take that kind of shot you had even with a point and shoot. You posted the Exif to make justice that you were using a DSLR but it didnt look as it was taken with it.. It would have been better and pretty much norm if you didnt post your Exif. Oh come on!, Sony will stop making A-100 DSLR if they will see those shots because it would be a shame for a DLSR to take PNS Shots.. I know it is really rude but it is true.

There is your problem right there! Just because someone made a statement.. a very honest one, you then thought I devalued your work. If you want to improve, then take every criticism in a positive way. The problem in this forum, people always say.. Oh its a great shot.. Oh nice great work.. Oh how great.. when its not!! Believe me you will improve more if take criticism as a reminder.. to even practice and learn more..

everybody is a critic but not everyone can make an intelligent critic that posses an eye of a connoisseur, what im asking is why u think this is a snap shot i think its not... its better if ur gonna explain it than making a rude critic with out ur explanation. i know wat u mean sa mga ubang tao diri na ang comment is "nice" "oohh great moment" with out even knowing na wala sa element of a good picture ang photograph.. blaa.. bla.. watever pero i f u want to break from the "norm" criticism dapat sad justifiable imong ctici, wat ur making is not general criticism but a Destructive criticism which is intended to harm someone, derogate and destroy someone’s creation, prestige, reputation and self-esteem on whatever level it might be. This may be done intentionally or out of sheer ignorance and foolishness.

A GOOD Criticism knoes how to evaluation, both good and bad, based on prior knowledge.

(please correct me if nai wrong spelling or wrong grammar)

and for the record i didnt pose the EXIF file para mag hinambog sa ako DLSR ( ooo look at him na siyay DSLR )
i posted the EXIF file to share my setting and the camera i used para sa uban maka hiba. im not a Darkroom type of photographer who docent share.

koto, to be really honest with you. I am not a kind of person who doesnt know to respect! For sure you don't know personally but just for you to know.. really not me.. not a person who would destroy someone's... not in this world..

When I looked at those particular photos, the first thing that came into my mind where thoughts of.... "hey whats wrong with this picture.. doesnt seem right.." Then I saw you posted your Exif and really said.. "this can't be, its a DSLR not PNS.. infact, I was gonna ask if it was taken with a disposal film PNS because of the quality.. which I would really admire.. if not for the Exif you posted"....

I have seen your other works and I really pointed every "Great Photos" you had posted but not with those beach shots.. My statements were kind of like a reminder.. hey, you have a DSLR..

For intelligent criticism.. well no need for that as there was nothing wrong with the composition or whatever.. it was just that it looked like a photo from a PNS for me.. ordinary snaps.. that was just really an honest description..

If you can't take it.. my sincere apologies..

This is for other peeps here:

Don't feel bad about criticism whether negative or positive. Take it to the heart but don't feel bad or being belittled. Trust your talent and know that learning is constant. Nobody stops learning. Even the great Joe Buissink took lots of bad boos when he started but never did it bother him as an artist instead, he made it as a motivation to learn more.. made him the top wedding photographer in the world today..

anyway let me share this statements i got this from another photography specific forum in giving out c&c's

Asking for criticisms follow this simple instructions.

    You MUST follow this outline.
Image Title: Put appropriate title eq. "Dog behind the cage" , "Man walking" , "Laptop" etc. No "pls critique", & no "pls comment" etc etc...
Image Description: Description, caption & intentions etc
Tech Specs: EXIF, Camera, Lens, aperture, shutter speed & lighting
Location: General location, outdoor, indoor, above the earth, 6 feet below & etc
Note: Additional request, notes & thoughts.

If you want to give criticisms.

You MUST follow this outline & order

    1) What do you think of this image? Rate 1 to 5 Use smileys 5 Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Being the perfect
    2) What are your main criticisms? NO one word & one liner like, "ang cute" , "ang ganda" , "ang dulas" , "panget" things like that. Explain it further.
    3) What could the photographer done better? Post your constructive criticisms
    4) Final Verdict? Your conclusion.

    NOTE:

ASKING FOR CRITICISMS: Be sure that you need help and you need opinions from others and be open minded
CRITICS: You should know what you are saying & suggesting.
CRITICS: You should consider the practicality of the situation & resources.
Respect the critic, the poster and opinion of others.
    Communicate with sense.
Mr. Ian, your c&c's are not constructive and very lame!

"Ordinary Snapshots" because ANYBODY can take that kind of shot you had even with a point and shoot. You posted the Exif to make justice that you were using a DSLR but it didnt look as it was taken with it.. It would have been better and

    bash
    - all cameras produce EXIF not only DSLR fyi what EXIF is!
    - why you involve the photographers gear/system
    - why DSLR has the rule not to capture snapshoots! i see you do wedding isnt candid shoots are considered snapshoots!
    - btw A100 stop already manufacturing before u even made the c&c's FYI - Sony A900 (pro flagship undermaking) A100 long time history already.

If i where to critic HOMERs photo
    http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/4276/dsc03403ev6.jpg

    - lens flare (shooting directly to the source light)
    - more dramatic if there are clouds above
    - composition - cut body parts (hands)
    - skin tone is good
    - over-all colors are good, but i want more warm (summer feeling)

homey its best you capture the opposite angle where you can capture the horizon and the backgrounds.
i know this part of the outrigger-boat (somewhere in the middle)

    ----

    anyway back to my point
if you can not say something constructive keep it to your butt.

The Photography forum is back! I like this! It is good to see everybody looking and sharing thoughts! Photography forum shouldn't be just a "Show and tell".. it should be a place to share thoughts.. and I am glad I started to get everybody's eye here..

Well, HybernaTe.. thank you for your insights.. but you just got it partly right though.. My statement was never meant to be a Constructive Criticism.. never.. it was a mere reminder although I must admit.. it was kind of really rude but I am all honesty.. My statement and or description was based on what I saw.. I could have said.. "Oh cool beach shots".. but hey.. this is a photography forum and we are supposed to share something to learn something... Clearly, you misinterpreted the point.. you didnt get the term snapshots.

Ok thanks to HybernaTe, this should be an added rule here.... If you can not say something constructive, keep it to your (I don't want to say.. yeah whatever.. hahaha)....

If you will say something.. post an explanation.. and be sure its a contructive one.. no more "Nice photos!"... it should be "Its a nice photo because blah blah.. composition.. color rendition.. frame balancing.. texture realization..

    Alright?
