I don't think you need to tear up wall every time you choose wires.. you can put the wires above the ceiling and to hide the wires on the side, you can place it inside a molding to make it look nice...

yeah, wire is a preferred connection.

If you are going to invest to put jacks in rooms, you might as well do it right. Just as you want power outlets to be easy on the eyes, you want ethernet jacks to be as well. There is no difference.

In a hotel setting, you want WiFi. People bring laptops to hotels when they stay and they want to use it everywhere they go. Use jacks as you would use a power outlet and if you can, design accordingly for the long term. I have ethernet jacks at my place wherever I need high bandwidth, but yet I still have WiFi to cover the whole area. I do not have cables running around or things concealing them. All you see are the jacks themselves.

That is if you are in a large area, wifi is more effective in this situation. Problem is if the customers go to their respective rooms. Wifi signal won't be that realiable anymore.

In reply to Vern, we already have Modular Box (with I/O for data & voice) for each rooms with their corresponding patch cords.

In reply to AMD_earl, as what i've mentioned above all of our public areas (ground, 2nd, 3rd and 4th floor respectively) are wifi ready. So as far as seminars, conventions, or trainings are concerned we are ready to cater them. What we don't have right now is for the rooms, especially for the executive floors. But which is which?

    1. Business point of view, they are more on WIFI connections considering that we are a business hotel.

    2. Technical point of view, personally, I rather go wired for a more reliable and intermittent connections. Anyway, thank you so much for all your inputs, these will be my basis for my project. As what I've said also this will be some sort of a survey at the same time.

diba 4star hotel every room has already ethernet, telephone and cable tv ready connection ports nga naa sa bungbung? it's part of the engr'ng design in construction sa bldg... so everything is wired.

f mag wireless jud ka, just put a simple wireless device in every room a sort of just converting wired to wireless and it not cost much or you can just add additional charges to guests.

Wireless in every room isn't something you should do. 802.11 isn't made for something like that. If you want to have an access point, keep it someplace public (lobby, meeting rooms, convention halls). Keep jacks in rooms.
