Thread: KOBE OR LEBRON?

LOL. Did I mention this season specifically? I was talking about the previous seasons. The start of the season was the start of the previous seasons, not this one.

Hughes did good when he was sent to Cleveland and even helped the Cavaliers to an 18-10 record before he was sidelined because of a surgery in his right finger. Hughes was second to LeBron James in scoring and minutes played before he got injured. Golden State? Hughes had good numbers with the Warriors too but unfortunately, they always fall short of good players. Danny Fortson had a great start once but saw action only for 6 games in the 2000-01 season while in the next season, Jason Richardson and Gilbert Arenas were still rookies. Numbers wise, the only season Hughes averaged less than 10 points per game was during his rookie season. His numbers speaks a lot of how good he can be.

Cleveland made it to the playoffs during Hughes' first stint with the team and even made it to the second round.

The statement could be understood as this season specifically since it is the most current. lol

Exactly, Hughes was brought to help LBJ. To be a Scottie Pippen nga. nyahahaha
So, with GS failing to make the playoffs, they also have Jamison then, it only implies that he can't lead a team. Can he? Did he? Yes his numbers speak how good he is. But we are talking about his ability to lead a team.

If only he had better teammates then it could be a possibility. We could not expect the Golden State Warriors to barge to the West's magic 8 with Larry Hughes and Antawn Jamison almost single handedly leading the team every night. They had the aging Mookie Blaylock and Chris Mullin and other players who barely completed 60 games in 2000-01 and inexperienced rookies Jason Richardson and Gilbert Arenas the next.

LeBron James and Kobe Bryant themselves even failed to lead their teams to the playoffs with very, very minimal support.

Those are still not reasons of why Larry Hughes failed to lead a team in the playoffs. They were always a doormat. He was not also the leader in Washington and in Philly. He was just a shadow to the superstars. He is again a Scottie Pippen type who will complement the superstar. When the Lakers failed to make the playoffs, Kobe and Odom were injured. They lost both while they were in the position to make the playoffs. They also had Caron Butler in their line-up.

Lebron as a rookie had a good cast with Ricky Davis, Z, Darius Miles and Carlos Boozer but Davis wanted to be the main man. If Miles and Davis just teamed up and blended well with Lebron, the Cavs could have had made the playoffs.

Kobe Bryant missed only 16 games and Lamar Odom missed 18 during the 2004-05 season where the Lakers failed to make it to the playoffs. And even with Caron Butler who only missed a total of 5 games, they even missed the playoffs. LeBron James on the other hand was leading Cleveland in scoring and assists during that time and was already the Cavaliers' main go to guy. Ricky Davis only saw action for 24 games with the Cavaliers before he was sent away. LeBron being a rookie can be considered an excuse, but in the next season, the Cavaliers still failed to make it to the playoffs even though James was averaging a little over 27 points per game. Bryant and James even had better support cast than Larry Hughes during his Golden State Warriors days. If both players are way better than Hughes and has failed to bail out their teams, how much more for Hughes when he's got only Antawn Jamison on his side?

He's a shadow because teams made him that way. He's got Allen Iverson, Gilbert Arenas, LeBron James, and even Antawn Jamison during the latter part of his Golden State days. He's got the right tools and he's got the potential to become one of the better players in the NBA, a path taken by Tracy McGrady and Andre Iguodala. It's a little too late for him though this time.

To get back on track, whether Hughes is a shadow to LeBron James or not, isn't he good enough (alone) for the Cavaliers compared to what Kobe had with the Lakers?

still, lebron is better than kobe... kobe is not even better than steve nash, tim duncan, allen iverson.

kobe might have won 3 nba championship rings (thanks to shaq), but bisan mo retire nalang ni si kobe, he will never be a regular season MVP.
well, i guess murag hapit na ka masayop, the lakers ang doing great, KOBE's playing well right now, dako ug chance ma-MVP siya, pero tana si LBJ jud... pero bati ug record ang cleveland... if ever man gani si KOBE ma MVP, i dont think maka-champion sila karon...
