to cut into the mix you have to boost your mids when you solo....those scoop tones are good for rhythm only...but still will only be drowned out by the drumbs and bass players sound. Technique there is BOOST YOUR MIDS when you solo.

and if you are more into setting your tone using your pedal, put your amp's EQ at a linear setting....meaning all treble, mid, and bass are at 12 oclock.

Adjust your tone using your pedal's tone shaping knobs....

since you have a EQ pedal and a OD...you can use those as gain boost (OD pedal) and the EQ pedal as (volume boost)

I would say your choice of distortion pedal matched with a good guitar with good pickups would really say it all -- tone, crunch, sustain -- and would give your overall sound an identity.

I'm currently using a DOD FX86 death metal pedal (got it when I was in high school) as my primary distortion pedal. It gives me good tone, sustain, and good adjustable crunch that lets me play blues to shred metal at any given time.

I'm really not into effects since I don't rely on them that much but if I had enough money to buy pedals, the following would suffice:
- A good EQ
- Noise suppressor
- Compressor
- A programmable delay pedal
- Chorus (for good depth)
- BB Preamp for BOOOST!!!

- flanger
- phaser
- tremolo
- harmonizer

But for me personally, the best set of effects a guitarist ALWAYS HAD are their own [img width=128 height=128]http://www.livescience.com/images/051102_fingers_03.jpg[/img] fingaz!

It's just a matter of letting them know the fret board and be friends with them.

im not a big metalzone fan, pero bsan naako i still use turbo overdrives or regular distortion, the guy i sold the les paul copy for $30 got the biyang tube distortion and biyang fuzz and they sound great i will borrow them some day pero at $40 each dli pako gatsi mu spend ana ug price haha, the behringer pedals sound great, plastic lang ug chasis like the arion

also behringer has their copy of the BBE sonic maximizer pud, might get that
