It's simple. Install the perfect system with almost only the operating system on the c: drive only (5-6 gb only). Then the rest on other partitions. Redirect temp folder, virtual memory and documents folder to other partitions (and even user settings, favorites, etc...). Backup c: to other partitions using ghost for example which will take you only less than 2 minutes then freeze it by the oldest or newest deepfreeze version. In between versions usually has conflicts with other programs such as alcohol and system drivers.I've been doing that for 5 years since version 4. If you are installing so many programs and sometimes you are not sure of what you are going to install, just backup c: at once beforehand. Takes only a few seconds to backup if you have few programs yet until you are finally finished installing all programs. I end up having so many backups (1.gho, 2.gho, 3.gho...). Each takes up 500 MB to 1 GB only.So if I encounter problems or change my mind, I can always go back to the previous backups that I want and not install from scratch. For example, it will take almost an hour to install windows xp and all the drivers ( more so if you still have to download the latest ones) then backup c: as 1.gho. That way if you mess up (whether installing deepfreeze) you can just restore c: drive in a few seconds. Then install Office Suites, virus scanners and firefox then backup c: as 2.gho. Then install all offline and online games and the rest of the programs you want and backup c: as 3.gho and so on and so forth. Whenever such steps takes so much of your time, backup c: incrementally. Deepfreeze should not be installed or must be uninstalled before a backup. Although it's possible with the newer version with set flag options but never forget to disable deepfreeze into the thawed state first before using the set flag and before a backup .After a few months you may eventually delete all backups except the final complete one if you need more space.

sakto si trashcan. wala pud ko ka experience so far nasudlan ug virus kay if magunfreeze ko. ill make sure nga akong i open nga mga site kay virus off....like..yahoomail lang.or mirc lang until i finish downloading(kanang require ug internet connection) then freeze again the surf or if dili kailangan ug inet connection then i turn it off when at unfreeze state.depends ra gyud sa pag gamit. ako ra gi redirect kay ako ra my documents.wala na lain. ang akong antivirus, ako ra update once a week,(unfreeze, update, freeze)

    works fine

During the maintenance routine try to document or report log for future references.

its very uncommon bro...thats why we on-call techie exists..

even sa internetan duol sa amua..3 cafes actually..

naka deepsheet..nay lipa virus..a very lame to be counted..

the other one had a .32worm and a trojan that keeps on popping up.

and the last one ...mauy lingaw..

i was there.. nag surf, then naay another client nag write ug lengthy docs..gi save sa desktop..nagdala ug external drive that needs a driver...

gi install...finished...reboot ur pc before u can use the ....blah.blah. restarted..

gyiera ang nahitabo...coz.nawa daw iya gi save sa desktop...the staff na nagbantay does not anything about the deepfreeze..and they didnt put a notice...the client surfing was very angry and frustrated...cursing them in coño..

.the owner who arrived...said.."thats for virus protection."

.very funny and ironic... naay ailkilyu iya internet explorer..

so now..wats the use of the deepfreeze when it cant even stop the lame lokal virus?

    you think im bashing it?

why do you think that its not recommended to be used here sa opis namo..im not an IT here sa work?

(..just a mere graphics specialist with techie as sideline...)

or my network administrator friend wu is now working in carribean wud not recommend it?

simple...its not for ordinary user...or i say it not for a noob.

lucky for many of us here wu understand what we do and tinker wen we put our hand in a pc.

    but for the rest?..

    i dont think so.

deep freeze can protect allright but the problem is mao lagi na,hasta imo document mawagtang specially during the times when dili kalikayan na marestart imo pc..Ex., The MSoffice document recovery doest work, u cant add bookmarks to your fave sites, and big hassles kung magupdates ka sa imo windows, antivirus etc..Better do a full backup regularly sa imo system katong clean pa cya (a disk image is best).Have a decent antivirus.

Katong naggamit na ug Deepfeeze..To lessen the complications:

Keep a sufficient amount of disk space.
Kung magunfreeze ka NEVER connect it to the network bisan pag nkadeepfreeze nag tanan pc.(trust me on this,i dont have to explain further)
Sa mga internet cafe, put a desclaimer naposibleng mawala ila files na gisave nila kong marestart ang pc.keep their backup.
Sa mga internet cafe gihapon: Always have a stable pc para dili hassle sa inyo customer if the above scenario happens.

    PEACE TO ALL!
