    Default Mon Idole

I saw Bastien's arc of him turning against Mr. Broustal coming. In the end, he is a tragic character, likewise for Broustal's woman. What I didn't see coming where the hilarious and suspenseful complications in the plot as that arc would start to materialize. Nice closing animated sequence - symbolic and lets us decide the meaning after Broustal lectures Bastien on what POWER really is. Oh, so the tape did get him it would seem. A dark comedy filled with innuendos, not for those who are easily offended. Want to touch? says the lady when they are getting a tan.

I have very low tolerance for black comedies. The last time I saw one --- "War of the Roses" by Danny de Vito --- I tried to shy away from black comedies. It is just that I do not laugh at death or at the misfortune of others. They are not comedies to my taste.

Then I went through "Mon Idole" simply because it was one of the works of the current enfant terible of French Cinema, Francois Ozon, and I regretted having sat for over two hours of sado-masochism. While I admire the animation part and can accept the stupidity of it all, the film was just too un-Ozon for me. For sure now, "Mon Idole" was the last black comedy for me.

^^ Well, I might be too blunt to relate to that (No I'm NOT defending the movie)

and anyway, 2 posts above I was just surprised why none of Radel Paredes's kids are posting in here what they think of these movies...unless none of them have accounts in here.
