Here's John 7:24 to ponder on:
Judge not according to the appearance, but judge just judgment.
    Peace, so be it.

A person is a homosexual when he commits homosexual acts. Being tempted to commit homosexual acts does not make you a homosexual. I seem to recall St. Thomas Aquinas writing something about this. The degree of temptation varies from person to person. Some easily fall into temptation, while others are, devil may cry, immune to it. A person who once did homosexual acts but has not committed such acts (always possible by grace alone) for quite a long time, say for the entire period of his or her formation, may be ordained a priest or a nun respectively. I think it is the call, guided by the Lord Holy Spirit, of the appropriate ecclesiastical authority in this case.

Look at the case of St. Paul. He was Saul and a persecutor of the early Christians. God knows how many he turned over for execution. But did that stop God from making him as an Apostle? I'm sure there are some good priests and nuns today who were once homosexuals, and yet by God's grace, became heterosexuals. Did the temptations stop? I don't think so. Satan, that hopeless loser, just won't quit, you know. But that's him and our God is God.

    Peace, so be it.

if i'm not mistaken, the author's idea of this thread is whether to give homosexuals (gays and lesbians), and not "former/once" homosexuals the right to take religious vocations.. if we are to understand that this thread talks about the later then definitely i don't have any problems with it.. most preachers are very much effective at taking their responsibilities at preaching the good news when they themselves once had a sneak overview at how things were then when they went out of the circulation..

I agree with that statement..but what we are conveying here is that can gays and lesbian be ordained as a preist and nuns?...........although we adhere the statement that we should not judge someone by who he/she is, but on what he/she can do for the organization? but we cannot deny that much of filipino mentalities are very corrupt and very malicious........kung ang mag boyfriend nakitang naka holding hands, sa kanto ang tsismiss buntis na ang babae..............was it true?..... :

Well, potterboy listed me to the pro since he classified my categorical answer as such. My categorical answer was as long as they have never had a record of homosexual acts since Day 1 of their pre-ordination formation. My contention was that if the grace of God preserve them from such despicable acts for the entire period of their pre-ordination formation, I don't see a problem, if I were the appropriate ecclesiastical authority, in ordaining such men and women.

    Thanks.
