Speaking about the Lakers, Lamar Odom is playing impressive basketball since Pau Gasol came in.

LOL! the lamest analogy i have ever read so far... the suns can go 1-2 even if marion was there... the two losses came from 2 of the best teams.. DETROIT and LAKERS... give me a better analogy so that i might believe your point..

    Trivia:

If the playoffs will start right now, either of the Denver Nuggets or the Golden State Warriors won't make it to the Top 8. Both teams are tied at 33-22 (.600) for the 8th spot. The team with the highest winning percentage that failed to barge through the playoffs is the Phoenix Suns during the 1971-72 season with a 49-33 record (.59.

After finishing with 31 points, 11 rebounds, and 9 steals against Dallas, Chris Paul became the first player to scored at least 30 points, dish out at least 10 assists, and have 9 steals since Scottie Pippen did the trick on March 8, 1994.

So far, the NBA is averaging 12.8 three-point shots made per game. If it will continue, it will eclipse the 12.1 threes made per game set during the 2006-07 season.

    San Antonio Spurs

New addition Kurt Thomas played his first minutes as a Spur on Monday. The veteran, obtained in a trade from Seattle last week, scored four points and grabbed nine rebounds in 13 minutes.

“I felt OK,” Thomas said. “My teammates were really talking to me, telling me where I needed to go.”

    Defense in particular.

Yao out for season with stress fracture

    Rocket ship down?

The Rockets have had great success over the years with Yao Ming in the lineup, the only blemish coming in 2005-06, when Tracy McGrady also missed several games:

General manager Daryl Morey made the announcement Tuesday, hours before the Rockets put their 12-game winning streak on the line against the Washington Wizards.

Yao was having a terrific season, averaging 22 points and 10.8 rebounds per game.

"It is not an injury we feel he can play with," Rockets team doctor Tom Clanton said. "I've made the recommendation that it be treated surgically and we are working with him to get other opinions just to be certain that that is indeed what should be done."

If Yao chooses surgery, Clanton said, it would involve placing screws across the bone to hold it together. The second option would be to treat it with a cast and crutches. Both options involve a healing time of about four months.

Clanton would not say when Yao could play again, but said he doesn't expect the center to miss the Beijing Olympics in August.

Morey told the team before Tuesday's shootaround, and added he doesn't believe the injury compromises Houston's playoff hopes. The Rockets were 36-20 entering Tuesday's game.

"We've been playing exceptional ball and Yao's been a huge part of that," Morey said. "We feel very confident about our playoff push. We've managed to step up and play well without Yao in the past and coaches and players feel confident that we're going to continue to play well and make the playoffs this year."
