Yep, the hi-def format war is over (I know we all did expect this to come sooner or later though.). Too bad for HD-DVD owners. Atleast they'll have some piece of history though. ^_^

Sony has issued a subtle update to its PlayStation 3 Folding@home client. Now at version 1.31, the update patches up an issue regarding network communication errors.

When communication with Stanford University’s servers is unsuccessful, the application will now try an effective method of attempting to reconnect based on the specific error condition.

And that’s it! To install the update, simply restart or launch the Folding@home client if you aren’t already running it and follow the on-screen prompts to install.

Hi guys! sorry, took me a while to response. Thanks for all the help with regards to the Asian version incompatibility issues with COD4. I found a way around it...just needed my remote control to do it. hehe.

Anyways, How did you guys register a PSN for the U.S. and Japan? Does this mean you guys have addresses from these countries as well?

Plan on getting an LCD monitor within the week. Any recommendations? not all LCD monitors have HDMI outputs right? does this mean i'm goin to need an HDMI-DVI cable for this?

This HDMI-DVI cable is only available thru Play Asia?

Also...this may sound stupid but um...if i'm goin to use an LCD monitor...where does my audio output go? how does it work? sorry guys...i'm still a neophyte with these stuffs...hehe.

Oh yeah, PSP works great with the PS3. I'm having a blast viewing movies I saved in my PS3 with my PSP.hehe.

For PSN question: No, we don't have addresses in those countries. (I sure don't have. Heheh) You just enter a valid street and city for your chosen state (US PSN, I looked the address up on the net). For the Jap PSN, I don't have one but I'm sure you can find some tutorials on how to do it in the net (Google is our friend).

For LCD Monitor question: Yep, not all monitors have HDMI outputs. I saw one though that already has HDMI. The brand was HP and it was 22". Sorry I forgot the model though (If you have time, you can visit the HP store in SM. I think they know that model or if I'm not mistaken they even have one on display inside.). Nwy, I've tried hooking up my PS3 on the Samsung 226bw (22", HDCP) and I had no problems. This monitor though seems hard to find in mall based stores. I suggest calling non-mall pc shops 'coz they are more flexible and have access to supplier stocks.

For HDMI-DVI cable: I don't know where you can purchase this cable aside from play-asia.

Last question: Nah, its not stupid. I also asked this question on another forum back then if I'm not mistaken. Nwy, if the monitor does have HDMI input, it boils down to if it has built-in speakers. If it doesn't, you can always use the AV cable (the one bundled with your PS3) and set the PS3 audio (look it up in the xmb) to it. If you're going to use the HDMI-DVI cable, the same principle above can be applied.

I hope your monitor hunting goes well. Mag-abot unya ta sa net. What's your PSN ID btw? I usually play COD4 so if you have that game lets play online w/ the rest of pinoy PS3 owners.

hehehe nindot pagka answer ni wan_eye, I'll just add mine, yup just put any valid US address for the US PSN, i suggest US PSN lang para dali magload coz naa man nag baligya ug PSN load sa pinoypsx.com

yup you can use the AV bundle cable for the sound, then pwede magamit sa imong PC speaker, palit lang ka sa ACE or any electronics shop katong female composite to male stero plug

yup daghan kaayo sa pinoypsx nag dula karon ug COD4, kada gabii naa war lols

I got my PS3 last Saturday. Watching Blu-ray now. Looks very very very good.

As of HDMI cables, buy some from CDR King, they got 2 meters for P250. 1.8 meters for P200. I got the 2 meters one and hooked it up in my 50" HDTV. No problems at all.
