Default Why are salaries in our country low? Can we really afford a wage hike?

Picture this....This is an example only..

A certain American company in the U.S is earning $100,000 per month and it employs 10 people. It pays a monthly salary of US$3,000 to each of the employees...

In a related case, a FILIPINO Company based in the Philippines is also earning the equivalent of $100,000 and also employs 10 people.... sad thing is it only pays the equivalent of US$195 to each of the employee per month.

If we compare the company based in the US and the one based in the Philippines, then the company based in the Philippines has made humongous profit....

Why are salaries in our country low?

Can we really afford a wage hike?

Will businesses really close shop or become bankrupt if they raise the wages of their workers ??

What is the real solution to the low wages in our country?

Why are salaries in our country low? - for now hinay ang kita kay tungod sa kompetencya sa other countries na mas ubos ug labor cost.

Can we really afford a wage hike? - for now dili sa mga Phil base na company and for the Company na base sa gawas kay dili pud kay they always have an option man to trnasfer to the country that offers low labor cost.

Will businesses really close shop or become bankrupt if they raise the wages of their workers ?? yes kay ma lugi na sila lalo na tong mga phil base company. I guess much better nang naa gi sweldo bisag gamay kay sa wala gyud.

What is the real solution to the low wages in our country? be like Japan buy your own products.

This is true. It's not about quality lang. Kay if quality conscious jud ang pinoy then di unta ta mo buy anang made in china. ganahan jud cguro ta ug imported, but not all.

    nyc POINT!...

BUT THE REAL QUESTION is ARE WE READY FOR OUR WORKERS TO RECEIVE A 30 USD / HOUR?...

there is NO REASON why we should not wage our workers well...BUT we have to see IF the DESERVE it or IS THE COUNTRY READY?...

I BELIEVE that EMPLOYEE's should REEP the benefits of the business he is working...BUT in reeping the benefits one should also see the SUSTAINABILITY of the commitment employers and employees have (will the company last if it gives 30 USD / hour)..

we should not compare ourselves with cheap labor, china, U.S. or anything for that matter...

we should see if the COUNTRY is mature enough to have this policy...

companies come in go but what would be left( most of the time) are those that are INNOVATIVE and that RISK large amounts of INVESTMENT...

true that the U.S. is bigger...true also that ROME wasnt built in a day...

we should find new ways to improve ourselves..whether by EDUCATION or EXPERIENCE...

I believe that OPPURTUNITIES are endless...you just have to find the supply and work your ass off...
