Default Thinks of buying the Orange Box

i'm thinking of buying an original copy of the Orange Box from Datablitz because i want to play TF2 online..
but i'm reading some complaints about Steam, about how I can't play the offline games without going online (in case our internet goes down).

anyone here having problems with Steam or hate it?

Steam is the least of your problems if your internet goes down a lot. TF2 remember is a multiplayer game and meant to be played online.

If you really want to get Orange box because of TF2, I think the inability to play HL2 ep2 w/o going online is not going to be a big deal. The only way to get TF2 only is to buy it online through steam with the use of a credit card ($29.95).

I don't have a problem with Steam. I've been using it for years. I've also bought a number of games through it online. 2 thumbs up for it.

You can definitely play Steam games offline. I don't know where you got the idea.

Been using Steam here for a long time (CS: Source, HL2M), no major issues whatsoever. Except for some memory leaks and graphical artifacts that didn't seem to be an issue with non-Steam games, which was thankfully resolved with a memory upgrade to 2 GB, an update to the Steam platform, and more recent graphics card drivers.

You can play Steam games offline, but you have to go online at least once to have everything updated and activated first.

They're out of stock, last time I checked (SM Branch). It was at around P 2295. You can always download it through Steam, w/c will probably take ages.

Most games I play on the PC now are through Steam. It's been years since I bought a PC game and the actual CDs. If I had my way, I'd have all my games on Steam and just download them when I need them.
