For non-OFW dependents, the strengthening of the Peso is good because the value of the Peso is able to offset the impact of the continuous rise of oil prices in the world market. For OFW dependents it means lesser amount of money when the dollars remitted are converted to Peso. But that does not mean the OFWs earned less. It's just that the value of the dollars when converted to Peso is not big. Anyway the government had made special arrangements to help OFW dependents who are affected by this strengthening of the Peso. The best among the solutions presented is that of educating the families and dependents on how to save up the money they receive and invest it in legal activities that will generate more income. Instead of just waiting for Balikbayan boxes or remittances they can engage in business activities using the remittance as capital.

it is ovious that the dollar right now is weak.

actually the weak dollar help the some us companies. their export outside the US is at an all time high.

To name a few caterpilar, boeing , dupont, G. E.. Now other countries are buying raw resources , chemicals , aircraft items, agriculture from the us insted of Europe because of the cheap US currency

the domestic market sales (US december sales is low in 2007) is suffereing due to the real estate loan crisis. But the exports are making tons of money for us goods specially in china

    maybe in Hune 1 dollar = P46

actually, OFW's main reason to go home is to be w/ family...and it is always a good time to go home. i was once an OFW myself, and it didn't matter to me going home without money...
