temporarily it might. say, a dead hard disk might work for about 30 mins (maybe just enough to back-up some files if it aint corrupted yet) and then die again anyway i've read or heard some explanation bout that before. just make sure you back-up your files if you managed to make it work after freezing (watch out for hte moisture) it because i'm sure it isn't repaired lol. my friend has tried this before he kept his hard drive frozen for about 6 hours/day, it worked like that for about a week or so before it completely died heh

mo "work" tingali na if the problem with your hdisk is stiction--kanang iyang r/w heads mo pilit sa platter...basin ma unstuck na sya due to the cold.kung naa ka importante kaayo mga data, like digital pics etc..na dili na gyud nimo ma balik pa..then all solution is worth a try. pero kung mo hagtik2x na gani na ang sound sa hdisk...time to buy a new one na gyud kai nag disk crash na...damage na platters ana..bisan pa ilisan nimo ug circuit board from another hdisk of the same model dili na gyud na matabang...

i dont know about that freezing method. in theory i could, but if you expose a "freezed" hard drive to a highly humid place (like Cebu) condinsation will take place meaning moisture will form the inside of the disk.

better try Spin Rite by GRC.

    > place your hard disk in a ziplock bag. make sure it's thoroughly sealed. place in freezer overnight. bring to room temp before getting it our of the ziplock bag to avoid condensation inside the hd before testing.
