have u tried using a 4 pin connector on the 7 pin port?

as far as I know, 7-pin socket accepts 4-pin S-video plug.

Video out to an Svidieo or RCA TV isnt really that bad as long as you have a good video card or you configure the card properly.

Its ok for watching movies but terrible for being used as a secondary display.

Heres a diagram to help you out...





Connectors 1,2,3 and 4 are located on the same area... a 4-pin Svideo plug will fit into a 7 pin Svideo socket. No need for adapters.

The threadstarter just wants to connect his laptop to the TV.... he wasnt asking if this is better than that or so...

Besides, the solution you have in mind doesnt solve what he wants to do. He already said that his TV only has Svideo and RCA... why would you suggest he buy an LCD TV?



I've connected Radeons via S-Video to CRT Tv's and they do a pretty good job with movies, tv shows.

From what I can recall the old Nvidia cards especially those packaged by Inno3d have very crappy tv out. (had a bad experience with the Geforce 4 Ti) The difference between that and a Radeon TV out is like night and day.

Im not saying its better than LCD TV... but Its working with what you have....

Still its not solving the threadstarters problem.

Its like someone asks you to help them fix their computer because they can't get something to work...

and you're advising that person to get a new one because his computer is old or outdated...

Also, video quality is subjective... what might be unacceptable to you might be ok with other people.
