    Hey maia21 how are you.
    hello pijavier. im fine, salamat.

are you pro legalization or not?
i am not pro-prostitution, per se.
i am not fully aware and informed of the technicalities of the legalization of prostitution so i am hoping this thread could provide me with insights. for now, i am not pro or anti legalization of prostitution in the phil.

@pijavier: see? even though maia21's personal morality immediately thinks NO, but she is not yet finally decisive on this matter coz she thinks she is not fully aware and informed of the technicalities & insights. now that's critical thinking!

@maia21: i hope this simple insight helps:

OUR TIME - we are now embarking on the digital age where technology is a must in order to survive. but meanwhile the Phils is mostly basing its morals from the traditional Christian faith...so it is not yet, or never our time at all.

OUR PLACE - we are in a developing country where poverty and children & women abuse for prostitution is a major problem...so still, it is not yet, or never our place for legalized prostitution.

OUR CULTURE - our culture embedded predominantly w/ Christian beliefs...so still, it's next to impossible.

    SKL:

this is a good read. an article that rebukes legalization of prostitution.
    http://www.rapereliefshelter.bc.ca/i...egalizing.html

here's another artik and it informs how legalization can help women
    http://www.associatedcontent.com/art...stitution.html

the question i guess is how legalization of prostitution will work in philippine setting when in it will be implemented. IF EVER.

So bro giddy, there are technicalities now? Amazing...

There is no grey area here. we all have to pick a side. It has to be black or white. Pro or not. Yes or No. if you say in between ka then walay klaro.

So far, i do not think there is a need for technicalities unless mo agree gyud ta sa pag legalize ani.

I am really getting confused here and hope you shed some insight.

so your standing is Morally it is wrong. yet you agree to it?

I have viewed the following links and they are very good. thanks for sharing this maia21

I do have reservations on the second article. If the governemtn wanted to help they had better give jobs that can support families of women in the trade. legalizing it would be a last resort.

Now let's say i agree sa side ninyo to legalize prostitutes. mo sugot kaha na sila nga naay taxes. ky income making man d ba? mo sugot kaha na sila nga nay required doctors visits and other requirments.

i know this is not directed at me but i feel compelled to answer this too. i am not (yet) decided if i am pro or anti legalization of prostitution because i feel that i need to see more of the two sides of the coin before i make my stand.

my thoughts too. providing equal opportunities for a decent livelihood is a better alternative.

    @giddyboy's simple insights:
    thanks!

another thing to consider: who will benefit from the legalization of prostitution in the philippines?

    i think that's existential feminism...

well, IF EVER lang ha, i think the first ones to be legalized are the night clubs (but within a red-light zone only), and escort service.
