Western Wats: the world's largest data collection company

does anybody know about this story i just heard? several stories in the press are circulating claiming Western Wats engages in a practice commonly referred to as "push polling." Does the US presidential elections and this allegation have something to do w/ the terminations also?

i just got this story from the net:

Faith Under Fire In IA & NH
    By Greg McNeilly
    Nov 15th 2007 10:25PM

Filed Under:eRepublicans, Mitt Romney, 2008 President

The Politico has broken a story on a phone calls to Iowa and New Hampshire voters masquerading as being pro-McCain while slamming ex-Governor Mitt Romney (R-MA) for his Mormon faith -- equating his beliefs to a cult. According to news reports, the campaign of U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) vehemently denies involvement or sanction of such phone calls.

Apparently the calls have been traced back to a Utah-based phone vendor called Western Watts.

The calls asks a series of questions, asking if the respondent would be more or less likely to favor Romney if they knew XYZ about him. The litany included the topics of his faith, Mormonism and Vietnam-era military deferments due to his missionary service in France. The calls allegedly note the Mormon faith holds its text is superior to the Christian Bible and that Mormon bishops would not accept African-Americans into their church up to the 1970's.
According to the Associated Press, one call recipient described their experience this way: ""It started out like all the other calls. ... Then all of the sudden it got very unsettling and very negative,"

The company behind the calls won't comment on the specifics of their work and only say they don't do "push polls." Western Watts has done work for a variety of state GOP political parties, Dole's 1996 Presidential campaign and a variety of other campaigns.

we'll thats how most call center works... mass termination
ang employees can't do anything about it... first of all sigurista na ang mga employer sa mga call center
they really make it clear sa written contract... mao nang bisag mo complaint paka its clearly written.. let the contract talks.
mao nang pag-ma-inogob ka ug pirma... sorry ka nalang...
(signing without reading kay dako ug salary)

dapat maghuna-huna na ang mga nagwork sa call center
kay di jud ka ka-ingon ug nindot ang benefits sa company...
kay di ta ka siguro sa panahon...

Manila is almost out of call centers... this could possibly happen in Cebu... we will never know
its not too late to save rather that mag-pa-sosyal...
daghan ra jud na diha sa mga agents mga feeling kaayo.

before a company resorts to termination... there must have been a formal notice of the mass terminations to the DOLE. they should have handed notices of the termination to their EE's not just a verbal one. and separation pay too. it should be justified with economic causes sa company. if wala ni comply ang western ana... they are in deep trouble.

of course, it would look like the NLRC or the DOLE is inutile because they will not take action unless one of them files a case against WESTERN.

has there been separation pay?! something needs to be done here.... of course, starting with the terminated employees of WESTERNWATS, they should file a complaint.

before, we went to DOLE & NLRC and they basically said that THEY CANNOT TOUCH BPO's because they have exemptions in the law and there is no specific law yet on how to regulate them.

    BUTANGI!

I say, they should be under the existing labor code except for tax cuts, exemptions etc.

provinces have cheaper labor and a large untapped talent pool, so BPO's will be moving away from big cities..
