Sir,
Extension tubes is your best option no need to have extra glass for Macro.
But if want to use your existing lens, just go maximum resolution and crop it.

Please compare the quality of photos if shot with and without extension tubes.
Cant provide you with side by side comparison, since I dont have macro lens.
just see below my macro shot using 85mm glass w/ 68mm ext tube.
"Dragonize"
grabeh Twinjet...superb shots!
nice shot.. bungot..
you can also attach an extention tube in a macro lens to increase magnification...
@CrasHBURN - thats more intense. but the longer the shallow the depth would be. best 50mm macro + xtubes ~ i want to see results of it
Of course, the longer the focal length... the closer you are to the subject... the more shallow your DoF. You may check out some of Gerald Yuvallos' / BeoR's macro shots... he's using a 90mm / 100mm macro + Kenko extention tubes.
Problem with 50mm, its hard to shoot hmm... living insects... you'll be as close as 2-4 inches, samot na with extension tubes.
with jewelries and small things that doesn't move... 50mm is ok...
by the way.. i'm not a macro master. I only shoot weddings rings with my 100 macro... hehe... contribute lang ko...
great shot TwinJet!
