usc can never be a harvard even the philippines premier university UP--->> for 90 million populations we badly need more researchers, scientist(physicist, chemist, biologist etc.), doctors, nurses (hmm.) engineers. and sad to say that most of the universities here have a dwindling emphasis on research and development:Originally Posted by madmike
Although the Philippines has one of the largest concentrations of colleges and universities in Southeast Asia, these are primarily teaching institutions and generally engage in research as a secondary activity. The universities with the heaviest involvement in research are: the University of the Philippines system (primarily UP-Diliman and UP Los Baños), Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University, and the University of Santo Tomas, all in the main island of Luzon; the University of San Carlos in the Visayas; and the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology in Mindanao.

Sadly, Philippine universities are still hundreds of miles behind US and UK universities (even to our southeast Asian neighbor) when it comes to research output (still plenty of Philippine universities are focusing on undergraduate plus a very low budget appropriation for research & development and yes we lack PhDs and Masters ,)
i think the government should do something about this (this is very alarming)
i notice most of the teachers don't know how to teach.
the schools here should emphasize critical thinking skills, less on memorization.
students need to be more involve in class and question the teacher's teaching methods.
irritates me when teachers voice out their personal opinions on certain matter as if it's part of the lesson.
excuse me but you're not getting paid to shove your personal opinion down our throats, just stick to freakin' teaching the class
according to the books and relevant scientific facts.
yeahh you're right likewise i find some teachers who were always dreary when making a discussion...hmm cheerlessness perhaps , some get into fury everytime a student will ask a question.......i really have to work my ass just to get the right education without being reliant on the teacher ( honestly, i sometimes felt being more excellent than some of my teacher) ...Originally Posted by coolnezz
