Hmmm...tricky because when i did this i didnt really have a formula in mind. However, i can tell you that i used the channel mixer, then curves, then color balance. I prefer history brush over layers so...

In a nutshell, 1) adjust exposure (curves) 2) color correction(channel mixer) 3) contrast(curves again) 4) toning(color balance)

OH! And when adjusting curves, especially if you prefer to be heavy on the contrast, the color of the image tends to be really saturated. Just use luminosity in blending mode to rid of the saturation but still maintaining contrast.

1. Dupe layer
2. Curves(or levels) on the duped layer
3. Change blending mode from normal to luminosity.
