Default What's the best martial arts?

as far as i've known, judo is so far the best martial arts coz it teaches and trains fighters/practitioners to both standing and ground fighting. Unlike other sports it teaches both striking and grappling techniques thus offering its practitioners a multi-dimentional offense and defense. What's your choice bro?

Di ba we have a thread like this before?

Anyway, sa ako lang tanang martial arts are the best... it only comes down to the practitioner or the student. Tanang tawo lain-lain ug physical attributes ug mindset. So, in my opinion... there is no such thing as "the best martial arts". I hope this is not a misconception on your part. Tabi, unsa diay imo system of MA? if you don't mind answering.

@erwin_rommel: bro, don't be offended ha. In my own opinion, Steven Seagals brand/kind of martial arts i think focuses mainly on standing offense/defense but lacks emphasis on ground fighting which essential in actual fights like MMA. Besides, his martial arts doesn't have any tournaments for its practitioners to ones effectivity.

ippon, you're correct about aikido but there are other essential ways to fight when there is aikido... those, twisting and limb breaking sometimes being used and re-used on several systems also. So, it cannot say that it lacks because all martial arts don't have all the answers. As for me, I wouldn't grapple a person on the ground if I can help it... If I can strike a person before he tries to put me on the ground, I'd have to. Besides, ground grappling have disadvantages too when the fight is on the streets or with multiple opponents. Frankly speaking, MMA is for ring fights.. they have rules to follow... on the streets, it's who ever gets to beat the other guy and walked out alive. One thing we have to rmember - fighting is not always about sports... it's also how you survive a fight.

There is a very thin line between Martial Arts and Martial Sports. Even fighting is a different 'animal'. Fighting does not require martial arts or sports. You be an athlete or a martial artist, reflect on this...
