thanks maria. this is just one of the experiments I did with the light painting technique. I'm even planning on experimenting producing a stop motion animation with this technique. I just have to find the time. Got really inspired with what artists did for the Sprint TV ad "Dreams" in the US.

here is my take on this...

this is painting with light...no flash...just penlights...four hands...some color filters...

at my studio canon 20D with 24-70L2.8 mounted on a tripod.100ISO@13sec. f10
yes model had to stay still for 13 sec. slightest eye movement would ruin the picture.

my attempt with this shot became more challenging as i wanted it to look like a regular photograph with heavy lighting gear in the outdoors/location.
making it less evident that it was painting with light and that it was shot in super slow shutter with only cheap flashlights as light source...
achieving the soft lighting took some practice but with time constraints, we manage to achieve this in about a dozen takes only which was very successful i think
stone background is a fixture at my studio. green light is made with a FREE eveready flashlite thru a green gel and on the right side was made with LED white flashlight.

note: the only composite in this shot is the fire...everything else is done in one shot out of the camera no editing/dodge/burn/etc.
