Accenture is a good sign that Cebu is now slowly attracting attention in the IT field. Rather than bad mouthing them, I would rather want them to stay and tell the world that their Cebu office is doing fine and their cebuano software engineers are world class. Its just a supply and demand thing. More software houses establishing offices here, the more choices we have, the more we can demand higher salaries.

@all: I agree with bcasabee. I've worked with (as a partner) and for (as an employee) multinationals like HP, Sun Microsystems, and now NEC.
I have yet to work for a company that I'd like to grow old with but working with/for these companies allowed me to develop certain skills,
experiences, and attitudes that hopefully will help me find the 'company' I could retire in.

We should be thankful that Accenture has opened shop here. They believe that talent can be found here and I don't think we'll disappoint.
Heck, believe it or not, I was one of the few people Michael Gleissner met first (after Janet Torral (of DigitalFilipino) introduced us) here in Cebu
who convinced him that Cebu is a good place to invest his Amazon winnings in (despite DTI's seeming incompetence). He could have retired like
his partner (who bought an island somewhere) but he didn't, instead he put up Bigfoot, Cleverlearn, and that showbiz thingie in Lapu-Lapu.

So, common guys, unless we hear some thing illegal or unethical about Accenture, let's cut them some slack. Enron was a thing of the past, it
was embarrassing but we shouldn't generalize. The more IT companies opening up here, the better for us. Woot!

P.S. I'm not connected with Accenture directly or indirectly.

Mura OT na ni hehe...You mean ang Wipro mag open ug office sa IT Park? Eh di ok. Wipro is one of the most respected indian IT company sa US. Di sila call center but an IT Outsourcing firm. Mura naa pud na sila software development. Im not sure lang if how much ang salary nila but for sure di pud ubos kay dako na IT company ang Wipro. Unya nindot kaayo ang exposure if ma hire ka sa ila and maka demand ka dako na sweldo if mobalhin ka lain company.

Took a while though but the talent has always been there. In fact, most probinsyanos I know prefer a job here in Cebu than in Manila. Cebu's location is more strategic for provincial professionals looking to make it big in a city (not just THE city but just any city). I guess Manila has been dominating the market for many years now and it's about time firms have wizened up to it. I've always encouraged headhunters to scout or set up shop in Cebu rather than in Makati because whether they believe it or not the entire central, east, west and south Philippines prefer to be in THIS city than over there. WTG CEBU!

Do tell me more about the Amazon winnings.

    Franz,

Since you are the closest thing to a HR personnel, just wanted to ask about jobs at accenture. Aside from the software development and call center jobs that's been offered to our fellow cebuanos, is there by any chance you are going to open other BPO services in Cebu? Like accounting jobs.
