SIXERS FIRE GM BILLY KING, HIRE STEFANSKI

After five years, the Sixers have part ways with president and general manager Billy King and recently introduced their new head of management Ed Stefanski. Stefanski was most recently General Manager of the New Jersey Nets where he spent the past nine seasons in various capacities, including General Manager (2004-2007), Senior Vice President of Basketball Operations (2003-04) and Director of Scouting (2000-03). Stefanski becomes the 11th General Manager in the team’s history.

For me, though, they should've axed Billy King right before the lottery since they had first round picks to start with. I bet Billy King would be remembered as the guy who traded Allen Iverson for not-so-valuable-pieces.

BOBCATS SIGN VAREJAO TO OFFER SHEET

In need of a big man, the Bobcats reached agreement Tuesday on a three-year offer sheet with Cleveland restricted free agent Anderson Varejao, giving the Cavaliers a week to match the deal or lose him.

Financial figures were not available. Varejao's agent, Dan Fegan, could not immediately be reached.

The San Antonio Spurs received some encouraging news Monday afternoon when an MRI exam came back negative on Tim Duncan's right knee and right ankle, both injured in the first half of Sunday's home victory over Portland.

Duncan has been ruled out of Wednesday's ESPN-televised showdown with San Antonio's longstanding rivals from Dallas, but Spurs' spokesman Tom James said that a firm diagnosis on how long Duncan will be out is at least a day or two away.

The good thing about the Lakers now is that their bench and support cast is responding actively and positively. So far, Kobe Bryant is not as high-scoring as he used to be in the past 2 season but the Lakers are getting much better results.

Amare Stoudemire scored 42 points as the Suns salvaged a win against the Indiana Pacers, 121-117. The Pacers came back after being down by 12 points in the fourth quarter. Steve Nash finished with 18 points and 17 assists for the Suns.

The Suns went up to 14-4 and holds the fourth best record so far.

If score and stats ang basihan, it's both. And maybe Boston also played exemplary defense in limiting the Knicks to only 59 points. Aside from that, New York has a series of internal problems, basin naa na pud ni bagong problema ang Knicks.

Hahay New York.. how I wish the Knicks are back to the Patrick Ewing and John Starks era.
