Most of their factories are owned 100% koreans and its products are consumed by Korea itself. You maybe reffering to NIKE, ADIDAS and the like which are not koreans products. They dont care much about those products much more with the company. But of course, they are using it like us.

I agree with your correction about 3rd world countries but i dont agree with your national security risk. Please note that we are talking about South Korea not the north. South Korea is a strong ally to USA. Infact there are so many american bases in south korea. I'm still convinced that american call centers exist in philippines because of we speak good english, salary is low and unemployment is too high. I too came from that similar condition pero engineering work lang to amoa. Ila tawag ato is work-share and they make a lot of profit kay salary sa 1 american engineer is worth 5 to 10 filipino engineers. Imagine kung pilay output sa 10 engineers compare sa 1.

still, it's somehow a national security issue in Skorea...american bases & other consumer businesses are entirely a different story from call centers...it's an IT industry...

Call centers exist here especially in Cebu coz sakto gyud for this kind of investment...the pros are just too high to consider the cons...

Bai for my 5 years stay in Korea wala gyud nako na na-feel nga gi-discriminate ko. Ato mismong mga igsoong pilipino ang nagpadiscriminate nato. Pila na man ka Koreans ang na-hold up, napusilan or nailad sa cebu lang. Lately di ba naa man toy korean student napusilan kay nisukol sa dihang gi-hold up sya. To be honest bai, mga buotan, friendly ug honest ang mga koreans. About sa mga prices, they probably know that but even if its 5 times the original price they dont care much kay gikan bya na sila sa mahal nga palaliton nga lugar. Patriotism still is the number 1 reason. Nothing more.

Pinoys in SKorea is a diff. story. Maybe wala discrimination did2.
And yes, true that naa pud Koreans ma-hold up, mapusilan or nailad. but it all applies to everyone including lumad Cebuanos...
My only point is, here in Cebu, there are a few undesirable Koreans who discriminate Pinoys (like the Margot O case), and those damn deceiving Korean tour guides...mao ra na akoa point.

as ive said bro, ive also been to their country as a tourist and marvelled at their technological advancement esp. their culture of loving their own products and their distaste of Japanese cars. I even saw & experienced how they treat our countrymen-the workers including us who were tourist to their country and willing to spend there since as one storekeeper blurted that us Filipinos are not welcome to his store since we are fond daw of haggling and also window-shopping which at that moment, maybe out of pride, we impulsively bought out more items than we intended to. Now i dont know what's changing in SKorea now esp. so when most shoe & clothing companies transferred to China since these industries were in their heyday when i was there.

Ahh ok. So you still beleive nga threat sa atong call centers ang pagskwela nila ug english sa pinas? I don't agree gyapon. Imagine ra gud ug pila ra na sila kabuwan nagskwela ug english. Impossible kaayo nga mahitabo na. Ako man gani nga 5 years ko sa korea dili man gani ko kaistorya ug straight korean, pareho ra sad na nga dili sad na sila kaderetso storya ug english. Ikaduha, impossible nga makasulod ang american companies diri like call centers, kay sila mismo kulang ug manpower mao na hapit na 300,000 factory workers ang naa sa korea karon. Akong balikon, almost all industries diri are Korean owned.

Ahh ok. Right sad na nato nga dapat i-correct sab na ilang gamayng sayop. Pero mas maayo gyud unta ug ato silang i-correct, ato sad silang atimanon kay unfair man sa ilang part. my point is on (1) english program - short-termer ra na kay after most of them have learned english, wala nasad na ang dollar-earning opportunity compared to so many of our call-center employees and support companies nila nga motuwad o mawala na jud sa atoa. try converting the average Filipino call-center salary to Korean won, if it comes out much less than what the minimum salary there:

THEN WHY GO THRU ALL THE HASSLE IN STUDYING ENGLISH IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY AND JUST END UP BEING PAID LESS??

doesn't make sense right?? and I have read somewhere that as long as wage rates are at 10 - 25% of US wages then outsourcing will continue to flourish. analyze that data and compare it to current wages in Korea. from there you can come up with a realization that American companies won't save that much in Korea compared to India and the Philippines.

also compare the rental per square meter, electricity, tax... the whole nine yards if Korea will be competitive logistically. we haven't touched on the most important aspect: human resource, of which English is the second language in our country.

I don't think "call-center" business would be a long term deal here in the Philippines BUT I strongly believe that Korea won't be a threat like you think it is.

koreans actually flock in the Phils. to study english because it's more affordable but those who can afford would go to australia, UK or the US to study... most of these koreans are also fond of incorporating study, travel and leisure, hence, they are really a big boost to our tourism industry..

i agree also that koreans are very patriotic... they may travel to many countries but at the end of the day, they would still return to their native land... they really take pride in the development of their country and they really love their own products...

i have also observed that as much as koreans hate the japanese, the japanese also loathe the koreans although they are neighbor countries... i think it all boils down to their history... koreans think that the japs are very superior while the japs look down on the koreans...
