But in MOBO overclocking ASUS sucks, because of its trademark limited voltage options.
the best OCing MOBO rather are DFI(the best) and Epox, get it. BRO?
I beg to disagree, not all ASUS mobo sucks as you claim, its just a bad batch, i use ASUS MOBO and never had a problem with it with regards to OC, and DFI as the best....nah, id choose ABIT.

    What is overclocking?
Overclocking is the process of increasing the clock frequency of your Central Processing Unit (CPU), Graphical Processing Unit (GPU), Memory, PCI, and/or AGP devices. In other words, making your computer run faster without having to spend the money on upgrades.

    reallyboost up performance...

What is the risk of overclocking?
    - In most situations, Overclocking will void the warranty of your equipment.
    - The lifespan of the CPU and other devices will be shortened.
    - You could potentially destroy your CPU, memory, motherboard, and other expensive items.
    - Room temperature is likely to increase.
    - Your system could become unstable
    - You might become an OC Addict

    pros:
-instead of just one, youll have lots of reason to upgrade.(im not really sure where to put this, hehe)

    cons:
-reduced MTBF (meantime before failure) of pc parts involved in OCng.
-getting a replacement for broken parts from the suppliier could take time, say 3-4 weeks (based from my experiences).

    :)
a +400mhz Oc on your cpu qualifies you as an extreme overclocker. i remember reading that many years back. i think the bars been raised already.

im not sure about ASUS board being bad overclocker as far asAMD but ived used ASUS for a good 6-8 years with different chipsets(all intel) and never had a problem overclocking them.
my vote also goes to ABIT in terms of of one of the best overclocking boards.

i woul definetly agree that you read that a few years back.
400mhz now is very easy to achieve unless you have one of the older AMD CPU's.hhmmm...maybe 800+mhz?
intel systems been hittin over 400mhz since the 1.5ghz era.

@fuzzylogic: 800 -> 810mhz and you brag about this hahaha! <roflmao> even a bored high school student (with lots of moolah and technical know-how) can do better than that...

let me elaborate on "bragging rights". it depends on the situation kasi bro. in a world where a 500mhz overclock is the norm, would you brag about 10mhz?? however, if you're with a bunch of people who use their systems at stock speeds, _maybe_ it would be different (i said "maybe" because 10mhz isn't something ground-breaking in real world performance). now if in my circle of friends, i'm the only one with a 900+ mhz overclock while the rest are barely breaking 700mhz, i earn bragging rights among my peers. hope this makes it a bit clearer to you.

maybe for you amd proc fans, asus boards suck. but its very different for me, an intel fan.

i've been using asus since my first p4 (1.80a ghz). my first p4 board was a p4v133 and with it i was able to run my proc stably at 2.4ghz. not bad if you ask me. however, that board's memory sub-system was doing no justice to my proc so i sold both after about 2 months.

when the "c" procs came out, i got myself a 2.6c and a p4p800 deluxe board. yes, they were a bit expensive before (13k+ for the proc, usd170 for the board). one usually tries to get "oc-certified" products when they are out in the market. when all components were finally in, i started playing around. 2.6ghz -> 3.2ghz was my first achievement. big deal. then i upgraded to better memory, a better proc hsf, replaced my case fans with vantec tornadoes, re-designed the internals of my case to get better airflow and put heatsinks on power mosfets, clock gen, mem/pci regulators. i was then able to play games stably at 3.6ghz but with scaled down memory timings... my kingstons couldn't measure up to the new speed at 1:1. but don't get me wrong, at an fsb of 277mhz, they were already running 77mhz above spec. well, the rest is history. all of us will soon come to a point where we realize how much time, effort, money we spend on our pc that we forget about the better things in life, which usually come for free.

    happy overclocking guys!
