mao ba...maayo hinoon ug mao na nga strong na atong PESO even sa ASIA lang.
If the peso is going weak, the opposition is saying that the government is not doing enough. If the peso appreciates, they are saying that the government is not doing its job. What then is the real argument?
If we have a depreciating peso and the price of oil continues to shoot up, we will be terribly complaining to the government with their inefficiencies. Hence, there is a need to institute economic reforms to strengthen the peso.
It's plain and simple. If the Peso is weak, the people want it up and they blame the government. If the Peso is strong, the people want it low, they still blame the government. So which is which? Definitely some narrow-minded Filipinos are just too selfish that they always want to gain. Everything here on earth is a cycle. Supply and demand also move in cycles. The point that some of us miss is that if the Peso is weak, prices of commodity goods would have gone very very high because oil per barrel is now $99.
I am actually in favor with the PESO gaining strength... but what makes it odd is that it's gaining strength too fast. And the prices of commodities aren't actually going down.
Imagine, in just a span of a few months, from P56-$1 it became P43-$1... If there are negative effects brought about by a weakening peso to the dollar, then there are also negative effects brought about by a very fast rising peso...
It's actually not about having a fast strengthening or weakening peso, it's about having a very stable currency.
Let's remember that a great number of our middle class have relatives working abroad who are dependent on the money that these OFWs are sending home. Also, a big factor that is playing our economy is the export sector plus tourism.
What's the ideal situation? The PESO should still gain strength but not too fast..
It's not because Philippine peso is strong. it's the US dollar that is weak. Their economy is going down. Theres a lot of foreclosures, bankrupcies.... you name it.
Americans spent billions of dollars a day in War in the middle east. If the war is over, then the US dollar will go up again.
There are millions of illegal immigrants mostly latinos also crash US economy by having cheap labor. Also, most of the American products is now outsourced in China and Mexico. US banned chinese products due to high lead content. I think this was the start of the US dollar devaluation.
Pro GMA groups are the ones hyping on a strong peso. According to them, with a strong peso, prices of basic goods will go down. People will have good life. People will be buying more of their money.
Now, the peso is sliding down fast even beyond their expectations. The problem is the much ballyhoed good life and strong buying power is nowhere in sight. Instead of prices going down, the prices even went higher. Worse, the income of overseas filipino workers, the backbone of our ampao economy, shrink significantly.
Now the prices of gas is being blamed. But long before the increase of petroleum products, people are not getting the results which are expected of the strong peso. The pundits now are trying to find alibis. The propaganda of a strong peso boomeranged on the GMA government and it hit right smack into their faces.
When the standard of living of a country is going up, then we must expect that prices of most commodities will also increase. When people demand for higher wages, there will be a wage inflation. The labor cost gets expensive, that is why some commodities' prices increase. Pag negosyo di ba makaingon jud ka ngano ang price mo increase. Of course kung mag business ka, your objective is to earn profit. And to earn profit, you aim for a higher mark up in price. The government's role is to control the price of those commodities. However, it must see to it sad that the businesses which provide the commodities are also getting profit.
About sa pricing sad, you know naman sa economics about Supply-Demand-Price di ba. I don't want to explain more about it.
Competition man sad ang factor some commodities' prices are still low.
About this issue, it is not only we Filipinos have this sentiment. Even the citizens of other countries have this. Look at Japan, one of the richest countries in the world but is also among the most expensive. The labor force in Germany is known to have the highest wage in the world.
Instead of complaining, why won't we aim to be rich and strive to become millionaires or billionaires. Di ba in the future when you reach that goal di na ka mo complain ngano ang price mo taas. When that time comes, you won't mind the price of a yacht or a mansion or a luxury item as long as you want it.
Pero I understand that we are still in the survival stage. We have to satisfy first our needs before our wants. Mao bitaw naa tay brains and lawas para molihok. Instead of working hard, we must work smart. Just look at how some billionaires and millionaires have been able to get rich. Aside from being lucky or blessed, they have done it because they use their brains and their physical abilities. (ayaw na lang to i emulate kadtong na dato kay tungod sa illegal drugs)
AND don't put too much blame on the government. There is no perfect system of government. Those people there have flaws. They also have lives aside from serving the people. If we only wait kung unsay buhaton sa gobyerno, mahog na wa na jud tay nabuhat para sa atong kaugalingon. We must practice our freedom of democracry when makita na jud nato nga di na jud mao ang gibuhat sa Philippine government.
Now about sa Philippine peso, i have read the news that the peso is the strongest currency in Asia this year, the same as last year. This seems to be a good news to the Philippine economy. Pero as they say" You can't please everybody". Naa jud maapektahan particularly sa export sector. Pero it is good to know sad that there are some exporters that have made projection about the status of the Philippine peso. They are able to adjust. Naa pa ma sad uban nga wa pa nag expect sa rise sa value sa peso. mao na hard hit ang mga OFW's kay mogamay na lang ang madawat sa ilang beneficiaries kung i convert sa peso.
BALATUCAN: Pro GMA groups are the ones hyping on a strong peso. According to them, with a strong peso, prices of basic goods will go down. People will have good life. People will be buying more of their money.
My reaction: If the standard of living of Filipinos increases and more hardworking and smart-working Filipinos are there, then there could be a change in society. People can buy more from their hard-earned money. Of course, when you earn more, you can have a good life. But I don't think that with a strong peso, the prices of all basic goods will go down. There may be a change in price if a certain commodity is made from imported raw materials.
But again, the prices of commodities may be affected based on their supply and demand. Moreover, there are various factors on the changing price of commodities. The prices of raw materials, labor cost, overhead, the forces of nature...
better buy at duty free. barato ra jud dd2.
