For me Cebuano is a language on equal footing with Tagalog.. Cebuano should not be called a "native dialect" or what, it's a "language."
Calling it such would mean that Cebuano is below Tagalog and is a sub-language of it.
Before we used to have poetry, music, literature and even movies in Cebuano but now wala na all because of Tagalog.

I hope they won't call cebuano an ethnic language. Besides, cebuano sounds better than tagalog.Originally Posted by arnoldsa

Of course, the other language will never be a dialect, because it's still a language.LOL.scraping tagalog helps us a lot because instead of spending time to figure out what is sanaysay and bararila, we can spend those time learning math and science. too much time had been wasted already just to learn tagalog. 12years is not short. and fyi the other language are not a dialect.
Imagine how diverse would the Philippines would be without tagalog, di gyud magkasinabot ang tanan. And other than that, there's no need for a formal education for learning tagalog, no time will be wasted in learning it.
We should, rather, enhance Mathematics and English. Children now more than ever are poor in Math and English. We should find ways in making it interactive, inviting, and fun to make students WANT to learn them.

I am awesome with a splash of bitch and a dash of wonderful.
i still prefer if we use TAGALOG and English in schools....at least ma develop atong Filipino identity by using the national language.
our national language is Filipino and I don't its Tagalog so in cebu we should use bisaya and in luzon they can use tagalog and their own language as well on other regions
^i think it is wise to stick to one language as a national language ba. it helps promote our Filipino identity.
i'm not saying i-bawal ang ethnic languages. pero as a nation ba...
kay ang mga different ethnic languages part ra man na sa "bigger picture"...kung mag iniyahay, wa dyuy asenso...imo.
