Are Post-processed (using Photoshop, etc.) Photos still considered Photography?

there are two styles in photography (that i know of).. namely

1) straight photography
2) pictorialism

depending on the manner of "photoshopping", its practically considered pictorialism.
kung color/hue post processing lng, its still straight photography.

abbott berenice would be ur idol kung straight photography imo inclination. no special effects or other imaging manipulation are allowed sa iyang philosophy. nice kaau iyang books basahon.. im reading her book "new guide to Better photography", although its 50 years kapin na, what she's written is still applicable karon (sa digital photography).

I think post-processing is done even way back nga wala pa naimbento ang photoshop... it is still considered photography as long as wala nimo getangtangan or gepun-an og subject or object ang photo (besides cropping someone out or doing double exposure) it is still photography

Post processing was called "Printing".. "The Art of Printing" it wasnt actually considered photography. Yester years' masters were considered to be both a great photographer and great print maker..

as the Masters would say (summarized lang nako)... From the eye of the photographer to his Equipment then to post production / printer (FILM or DIGITAL)... it is like a Composer and the performer.

post-production began YEARS ago.. before pa kita'ng tanan dinhi nahimo ug embryo... so post-processed or unprocessed... still its art... still it is Photography..

a lot of people mag sige ug critique about post-production... for sure, they don't know how to do it, doesn't have a heart for Art. Ayaw ko lalisa ani, I used to be like this before when I started serious sa digital photography. Hahahah!

Processed or not processed... It's all about capturing the moment... period...

Let us compare this with Video / Movies...

let a video guy shoot your wedding or event... ask for a RAW copy of the video (zero editing) and the finish product (full processed).

the RAW copy will give you every detail in the event, 2-8 hours... then compare it to the Final post processed copy, hehe.. it'll only take 30-60 mins...

Which do you think is better?

post proprocessed video... dili na diay ni siya ma tawag ug "VIDEOGRAPHY"?
