Default blinking LAN light - Network cable unplugged

    HI!

i tried to connect my new laptop with my desktop pc both of the same workgroup and in Windows XP.

But can't seem to network both of them..

the LAN is blinking and the connection resets every few seconds.. Any ideas why?

It works fine when i connect it to other PCs but it just wont work on my laptop..

also, when i look at the LAN cable at the back of my CPU..
the light is blinking rather than having a steady light..

Network cable unplugged but its not!!

    please help, thanks!

    renew IP.
or check device drivers. re-install and update if necessary.
check physical connection, swap cables if possible, to check.

does it only happen when your laptop is trying to connect to that workgroup or network?

check your lan cable or update the NIC driver.

    Countless possibilities.

Ensure your NIC is properly installed.
Check your LAN settings in both terminals. IP Address. Wokrgroup. Etc.
Check your cable. I guess you need a cross cable for this. Also, it may sometimes happen when the TX-RX pair is not properly terminated or is loose.

Did you put an IP on the Local Area Connection?
