i dont think the radeon 3000 series can match up with the 8800gt... kay they (AMD) only said its as fast as the 2900XT but runs cooler, more power efficient and more forward looking... (it has SM 4.1 and supports DX10.1)

hmmm just learned something today....

This card will appeal most to the users trying to maximise the performance of their 19-inch to 22-inch monitors, running at either 1280x1024 or 1680x1050 resolutions. Anything higher means more GPU memory bandwidth needed to fill in 1920x1200 or 2560x1600 screens, and of course much more expensive displays - meaning one can afford those more expensive cards too, then.

The 8800GT at stock settings beat the GTS in everything but memory bandwidth. Overclocked, it likely competes with the stock GTX...at half the price.

Yeah most stores here will take advantage of the hype then they would eventually price it higher than the GTX when in fact this card is even cheaper than the gts 640mb. In the US stores.

the worst thing is that when you talk to the sales person here why its more expensive than the GTX then the sales person would simply say since its newer then it must be faster than the GTX kay bago gud ning gawas.

Initial unconfirmed reports say the HD 3870 performs around 20% slower than the 8800GT but will be priced around 50-60 usd lower.

There are also talks about HD 3870 X2 variants at 400usd to compete with the new 8800GTS or 8800GTX/Ultra perhaps...


Despite supporting DX10.1 things arent looking so good for AMD. We'll find out for sure in 2 weeks time..

Nice My x1950xt should keep me happy until the radeon 3k series will hit the market. Anyway dugay paman sad ni maabot sa pinas.
I'm happy with my card since I haven't experienced any lag in any games in very high settings yet.
