Carmelo Anthony, Allen Iverson, and the Denver Nuggets spoiled Kevin Durant's NBA debut. Anthony scored 32 points while Iverson had 25 points, 14 assists, and 7 steals for the Nuggets who got 15 rebounds from Marcus Camby. Durant scored 18 points in his NBA start and hit 7/22 from the field, not too bad for a rookie.

LeBron James on the other hand was limited to an uncharacteristic 10 points in Cleveland's opening night loss to the Dallas Mavericks.

San Antonio on the other game proved that they're the defending champions and defeated the much improved Memphis Grizzlies. The Spurs' big three done much of the damage to the Grizzlies especially Manu Ginobili who came off the bench and scored 30 points, hitting 5/9 from beyond the arc and 13/14 free throws.

Iverson's numbers are really impressive. His 14 assists and 7 steals really stand out. That's Steve Nash who can play defense. If Kenyon Martin can finally get over his hump and get more involved in the Nuggets' system, I can't imagine how deadly Denver would be.

    RECENT BIT:

Luol Deng, Tyrus Thomas and Ben Wallace: three players linking a trade for the Bulls to net Kobe. ESPN said negotiations are dead but there are still things being discussed about.

Chicago Bulls forward Luol Deng was a conflicted man on Wednesday night. He had turned down a reported $50 million earlier in the day, and now he sat inside the dank visiting locker room at the Meadowlands, preparing for a game and wanting some answers.

Bulls forward Tyrus Thomas was looking for answers, too, leaning in to listen to the latest on the Kobe Bryant-centered universe.

Chicago center Ben Wallace was all ears as well, likewise seeking an accurate reading on the Bryant talks.

All three had been mentioned as potential trade bait for the Los Angeles Lakers superstar. So on the opening night of the season, a steady ship they were not.

The Bulls is still a good and competitive team with Ben Gordon, Kirk Hinrich, and Joakim Noah if ever the Loul Deng, Ben Wallace, and Tyrus Thomas for Kobe Bryant deal pushes through. Now what Chicago would need is a more reliable big man.

Kobe's demands are getting way out of hand already. He's got no right as to demand who the team should trade and who should stay.
