For my first ever (!) college writing class, I'm assigned to write an analysis (through close reading) of a literary device in one of the personal narratives I've read.
First off, I love reading narratives and similar creative non-fiction; usually I'm very engrossed in the stories, especially since they often grow out from daily life incidents I can relate to. Personally, I have enjoyed writing narratives or short stories as well (although by no means have I actually spend real time working on any work).
However, obviously for an academic essay I need to remain a certain professional manner (not using I's, we's... etc.), and I was wondering if you may provide any great tips into a creative way to start an analysis.
Of course, I have written lots of these type of essays back in high school. But as I embark on doing my first ever college writing assignment, I want a new start. I want to be inspired!
Thanks!
