help! Confused..! installing OS @ old PC.. PLEASE CLOSE! :-)

Hi fellow Istoryans..

I'm fixing my uncle's PC in which I don't know what's the full spec sa iyang PC..

but I've looked @ the PCB of the motherboard and other components..

P5SD-B+ Rev 1.0 (AMD ni xa.. naa'y printed nga AMD sa usa ka IC)
4GB HDD
64MB Memory
S3 Video Card (don't know what brand)
Intex Soundcard
D-Link Modem

here's the prob..

Everytime I install WIN98, and login for the first time.. ok pa man xa..
but after a restart.. mo-hang up na xa.. if I get inside My Computer, mo-restart..
something's wrong in Hardware component ani?

Coz I'm confused na on who's the culprit behind all these.

I've run the scandisk and the windows files are corrupted dayon..
I havn't installed anything yet except sa WINDOWS installer..

I was thinking maybe the memory, but when the Windows folder being corrupted,
maybe sa HDD na ang prob?

I can't use my SATA HDD sa iyang PC coz I don't have the converter..
I have an extra HDD but guba pud..

But whenever I put the HDD in my own PC, ok man xa.. behaves normal ra man..
Maybe pud sa motherboard ang prob? something's wrong with the connectors?

Hope someone could help me... kinda confused na me.. been working on this for a week..

Try checking on the memory modules. See if you can get new ones, though I doubt that since that is quite a dated system that you have. The least you can do is reseat the memory modules.

It could also be the PSU, IDE cables, inadequate cooling on the computer. It could also be an issue with the OS disc, though that is quite unlikely.

Lisud na jud ni pangitaan og bag.o nga component except sa HDD og FDD. 9years na daw ni nga PC sa akong uncle..

I'm still scanning for bad sectors of HDD karon using scandisk..

I havn't checked sa PSU coz AFAIK, if PSU ang prob, mag restart permi..

ang prob diri kay after restart, di na kasulod sa WIN98.. but still, I'll try to check the PSU..

btw, I've scanned also the C: drive ganiha.. and the folders get corrupted.. special characters ang mogawas.

example.. desktop.ini will transformed to des¿╞.iÄ╥..

then around 100 files and 50+ folders ang magingana..

after restart na xa sa PC..

try installing Win95.

Try eliminating components... (e.g. replace each component with something that works)
Try pud format ang imo HDD...FAT16 lang siguro...
Or try another win98 installer, basin pud problemado ang installer, I've tried experiencing some corrupt files with one XP installer. I got a new one for replacement, nya ok na man.

i'll try, basin pud sa installer disc, but I've installed the same disk in my VMWare.. ok man xa..
nag internet gani ko didto.. chat in mirc, and other stuffs.. installed some softwares..

before I formatted the HDD of my uncle, first time nako gidiagnose, naa jud mga special characters ang mga files and folders..
especially sa windows folder.. but I've accessed it through my PC.. and formatted it here..

I don't have win95 man gud, but i might download..

will do.. but win95 ra maka basa og fat16 nga FS..? nya mainstallan, sa? mao ba na ang FAT ? i'll try to update this ASAP..

btw, daghan au FILE####.CHK ang C: in which caused by the scanddisk.. huhuh.. naunsa man ni oi...? hehe..

unya na ni nako i-admit sa Green Valley, or kung asa ganahan sa akong uncle, kay I want to solve this kind of prob..

Error after installing Windows 95.. hahaha..

wala pud sa net ang kana nga error..

well, i-admit na jud ni nako.. basin nya maguba'g samut, especially the HDD.. cge lang format.. hehe..
