I guess I just find it more sensible to anchor my belief on something that is tangible and somewhat explainable given the human mind's capacity to comprehend.

hahaha nah ambot lang boss, nga murag 2010 paman ta aning istorya bahin sa religion..Lol pero sakto ka basta fanatic na gani ang usa ka religious, murag tanang istorya sa iyang holy book kay 100% insakto jud. in fairness sa catholic church, maayo jud mudala ug lusot. hehehe for example sa evolution, ang catholic church mutuo man ana..the view is called theistic evolution and at the same time finds no conflict with the bible.. because the church deems the creation accounts in the bible be understood figuratively. while other Christian denominations especially kadtong mga creationists...literal jud ang take sa bible..mahulog ug 6,000 years old pa ang earth? hahaha just saying.
can't say much about the quran though kay wa ko katuon ana.. hahaha

On topic, Sharing where i am at in this journey that includes faith.

i've been a seeker most of my life from being a catholic to a born again christian and thought by then i have known my god and realized much later (after 2 years) that i still do not know my god. and certain experiences made me take a step back , and further back as the years progress and realized: he is still a god, but is he personal? not sure. is he my saviour? (yes) , does he interact with me? (yes all the time), does god love me? (i bet he does, i know it) but i am not able to still comprehend until now, why he would allow really bad, sad, despicable, unfair things to happen to any one. i know i cannot see the bigger picture and there may be value in all these suffering, pero: i do not see why it has to be in a way that makes me question him 80% of the time.

the explanations i get from my christian faith did not make sense to me. so i stepped back and still seeking =)

I'm interested unsa ilang explanation nimo. Ma share nimo ilang expalanation? If you believe God loves you, that He saves and interacts, I don't understand why you doubt He is personal. What do you mean by "personal"?

Been wonderig the same. Even though I do not know what god’s name is, even though I do not talk to him/her/it through prayer I still have my blessings coming. I think it’s a matter of what you attract. I just think that it’s all about having faith that things will turn good. The idea of God is a hardest thing to understand. As for me I just wanna choose to love being human. I just want to make or to discover a purpose for my existence. And lastly to face death smiling. I do not know whether death is the ultimate end or there is an after life. But what I am sure with is that death is the end of this reality i’m in right now and I’m gonna make sure to face it smiling. And if god’s concern really is imposing rules on me he would have made it clearer in the beginning. He’s too unfair if he’s gonna save the christians only or the muslims or any other specific religion only.

Why do you think it's unfair? what does being fair mean?

I see. just basically wanting out. unsa may nakapalisud sa imung gusto Kar? external factors? or internal conflicts within you kay somehow you're like torn between holding on and letting go?

hopefully i will be able to clarify this, i would like to start from a point of view where i have a more or less clean slate, so i can evaluate these system of beliefs more clearly. but at the moment, it is a struggle as the influences and habit i get from being indoctrinated too long ( in my opinion) is too deep that it literally is a struggle and will take time.

it takes time, i will get there eventually.

We'll I just think that if god really wanted to impose rules on humanity then he should rule over and impose the rules himself clearly not that he hides behind some ancient history books. For me being fair means, god should have revealed himself if he wants to rule over us, we wouldn't have needed saving, not that he confused us with ancient artifacts we don't even know actually happened. I just think its naive to believe a God that feels and think like human. Religion did created division in the human race, to think that even one religion is subdivided to diff. sectors and I don't think thats god's perfect plan.

The definition of atheism as per google is "disbelief or lack of belief in the existence of God or gods".. This is also the most widely accepted definition. Both atheism and Buddhism are therefore NOT mutually exclusive belief system.
This means you CAN believe in enlightenment, Buddha, reincarnation and etc. For as long as they are NOT considered gods then you are not violating/contradicting the definition of atheism.

This is also why some atheist practice Buddhism because they knew it is NOT a logical inconsistency

well Buddhists, at least the ones in traditional Buddhism do not assert the inexistence of deities while atheists on the other hand do. that alone bro is resounding difference between the two perspectives.
