I don't know if you have been reading the news lately bro. But I don't think there is anything smelly with regards to that article.

Bayari imong utang from the government which you owed several years prior, and then we are settled.

PAL gave in and paid it's debt, not mere debt a whooping 6Billion worth of it. It's already a done deal.

Gipakapinan pa gamay sa PAL, which I think was not actually pakapin, because in one occasion digong "announced" to help in the repatriation by using PALs airport to transport the OFWs from Kuwait, to which PAL responded positive.

Double dip, no more qualms. Satisfied debt.

What's the point of beating a dead horse.

MANILA - Flag carrier Philippine Airlines on Friday settled P6 billion in navigational fees and other charges it owed government, just a little over a month after President Rodrigo Duterte threatened to shut down its operations over the debt.

"We are pleased to announce that PAL’s financial obligations to the government amounting to P6 billion, which were incurred since 1970s up to July 2017, have finally been settled," said Presidential Spokersperson Harry Roque in a statement.

Clara De Castro, PAL Vice President for Legal Affairs, delivered the payment in checks at the office of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), according to a joint statement by the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) and CAAP.

PAL paid P5.68 billion to CAAP and P258.6 million to MIAA.

In September, Duterte threatened to shut down the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2, PAL's hub, if the airline won't settle its unpaid dues.

The airline and DOTr reached a P6-billion resolution in October.

PAL was given until December 2017 to settle the unpaid charges. Roque said this conclusion highlighted the administration's commitment to "decisively act on matters that would greatly benefit the nation’s best interest."

"This settlement will go a long way in funding the administration's priority programs," Roque added.

Hostage situation. Coercion. Extortion. Harassment. Etc
Harassment maybe but Hostage Situation? Coercion? Extortion? I would have to defer.

No need to overthink it guys. So karon nga ni offer ug tabang si Lucio Tan, iyang gi dawat with no strings attached. So no problem , di ba?

Strings or no strings attached, we will never know.

as far as i know there should be no strings attached. puro raman pud na chismis. as what dutertr said the constitution allows the government for settlements especially sa taxes. both mighty and pal paid through settlements and settlements went through coa afaik.

I think naa na sa 2nd reading ang sa Lower House and the draft EO is already there. I just don't know if unsa ang giwait ani.

Sa tinuod lang lisod ni nga balaud kay naay implications to the private sectors. Halos tanan private sectors ani affected, and not just local sectors even ang mga international. Mao nang gi way gyud nag maayo.

I think naa rani gi wait sila.. I just don't know.. nang timing lang tingale ni.
