    Interpretations/Comments:

This is just one of the many verses in the bible degrading the status of women as equals to men. If the Bible was to be the law of the land, I fear for the welfare of women. No wonder the generation of yesteryears were so abusive towards women, it seems that they had divine consent. Theists might say this is out of context interpretation, but it is as clear as written in their respective bibles. The Bible and the Qur'an have similar attitude towards women, the muslims are more "faithful" to their "holy book" than most Christians but Christian women welfare are far better than those of the muslims. Modern Christianity simply ignore these verses and just thrown into that imaginary trash can called "Out of Context" and never revisit to interpret it. Seems to work for the better. This verse is clearly anti-women, amen?
I don't know what kind of interpretation you have, but I prefer to let the bible interpret itself.

This is how a woman should act with modesty and purity. Subject to the husband and faithful.

    1 Timothy 2:11-15
Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

This is how a wives should be treated:
    Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
    Ephesians 5:25

Christ loved the church and willingly gave himself for it even this is how should Husband's love for their wives.

Yes there is a hierarchy of authority in a Christian Family.

"But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God." 1 Cor 11:3

"Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord."
    Eph 5:25

hierarchy is not necessarily bad in fact the opposite of hierarchy is Anarchy.

People, you are confused. OP made it simple enough for us to understand that this is an
UNPOPULAR bible verse thread and his interpretation(s). It's his. He has all the right to do
so and it doesn't pursposefully debunk any of the scholars' traditional teachings. Unless..
you guys are shook by his words.

He has warned you from the thread title itself. Well, everybody's entitled to troll around
    anyway.

PS: I posted my own favorite btw. You guys can do it to...

When atheists "interpret" the bible. LOL.. no context, no historical background, etc. equals silly interpretations. I don't know why they bother so much about a collection of books they consider fairy tale

And why only welcome theists who haven't read the whole bible? Is it because the ones who actually read the bible knows how erroneous these "interpretations" are?

We'll I've read it probably more than you have. I have studied it. I have shared and discussed with fellow Christians and non-Christians alike. So I am welcome here... Actually, all istoryans whether theist or atheist are welcome here. This may be your thread but surely istorya.net isn't owned by you.

Also, as a CIA, I'm assuming you've read the rules. Rule number 2 clearly states "Posts should be composed in such a manner that respects persons of all races, religions, cultures, and sexualities." Do you think your thread respects the Christians and our belief?

Anyway, I will be sharing bible verses that for me is unpopular. Mao man na imo gusto diba?

    2 Corinthians 4:4

in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
I do not own the site, but I started the thread. And you may post unpopular Bible verses however you are a theist you may be triggered by atypical interpretations beyond Christian logic and may escalate into ad hominems, it's better if you create a thread solely for your liking and post Bible verses which only entertain theists interpretation so in that way, you all feel good.

I respect the persons. Not just their religion, or Bible for that matter. They are separate from each other since the person can change. The Bible cannot. I have not resorted to unnecessary smileys nor invite people to arguments. I have not hijacked any thread either.

Continue to post verses though, but refrain from engaging with me from this point on Ward.

PS: since you posted a verse, my interpretation/comment would be: Just like how God hardened pharoah's heart so that it would be impossible for him to yield to the request of the Israelites inspite of the terrible things thrown at his kingdom, this verse also imply the God is actively doing to the unbeliever to prevent him from believing in God. This probably stems from the tribal mentality of early barbaric christians, not sure though.

A quick historical background of the Bible is that it is a compilation of modified stories from other religions and cultures. Most of it's events and characters, including Jesus Christ, never existed. Ergo, I'm commenting on a fictional book. You may want to ignore this thread, it will just cause you to be filled with anger, pride, and ridicule and may fail to exhibit the goodness of your Jesus Christ through your actions.

It's a book. It can be commented by anyone.
You had your piece. Ignore this thread or you may want to continue with ridicule and show us how a real Christian, holy spirit inspired person should behave?

    6. 1 Samuel 15:2-3 NIV

2"Thus says the LORD of hosts, 'I will punish Amalek for what he did to Israel, how he set himself against him on the way while he was coming up from Egypt. 3Now go and strike Amalek and utterly destroy all that he has, and do not spare him; but put to death both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.'"

    Interpretation/Comments:

So Saul was given the command to destroy the Amelikites for the plunder they have been committing against the Israelites for many years. Okay, so this is like divine justice. However, the women, children and infants were also killed? Just let that sink in for a moment. ISIS should bring a good comparison. Historical wars maybe barbaric, but considering this is the All loving God that transcends all time, his morality and justice should have reflected that as well. What have the children done wrong? Oh well, since their parents are gonna die, then its more humane for them to die as well? right.....

Later in the chapter, Saul lost favor from God because he kept all the best livestocks, which angered the Lord. You know, the tone of these verses as you read them feels like as if God did not create other people, nor cared for them. Theres so much things God could improve on as an omnipotent being.
