Fire hits Metro Gaisano Ayala Cebu | SunStar

There's currently a fire ongoing at Ayala Center Cebu, specifically at Metro Ayala. Initial reports say it may have originated at or near the Toy Department. My sister was actually shopping at Ayala when the fire broke out (she's safe at home now), and said that there was smoke coming from the Toy Dept. stock room near the cashier where she was going to pay for her purchases. There were people running and carrying fire extinguishers when she left. That was a little past 10pm, and the fire is still ongoing. So far, all reports I've read says no one is inside the mall now.

Don't know much more about any details, except that the alarm was raised to Task Force Alpha, which is the highest fire alarm. No news yet on whether the fire is under control, so it's possibly still ongoing.

Sunog sa Metro Ayala nagpadayon

Halos molanat na ug napu ka oras ug bisan way tulog, nagpadayon pa gihapon ang pagpakigkumbati sa mga bombero sa pagkasunog sa Gaisano Metro sud sa Ayala Center –Cebu sukad pa kagabii.
Usa sa gilisdan sa mga bombero sa pagsud dayon sa department store mao ang kabaga ug kakusug sa aso , hinungdan nga nigamit sila ug mga breathing apparatus sa pagkombati sa kayo .
Ang Cebu City Fire Marshall nga si Fire Chief Inspector Noel Ababon nitataw nga ang kayo na-confine lang sa department store sa Metro Gaisano ug wa maapektohi ang ubang mga tindahan sa Ayala Mall .
Ang baga kaayo nga aso unang namatikdan sa stockroom sa mga duwaan sa third floor sa building pasado alas 9:00 kagabii hinungdan nga daling gipabakwit ang mga empleyado sa tindahan.
Mingaw na usab ang tindahan sa pagsugod sa sunog tungod kay padung nang manira ang tindahan .
Pinaagi sa ladder truck sa Bureau of Fire Protection, gibuak sa mga bomber ang pipila ka bahin sa bungbong sa building aron makagawas ang nagpoot nga aso.
Ang sunog padayong giisa sa Task Force Alpha.

Fire hits Metro Gaisano Ayala Cebu | SunStar

CEBU (Updated) -- Authorities have raised the fire alarm in Metro Ayala Center Cebu to Task Force Alpha, as black smoke continues to billow from the department store's third floor as of 11 p.m. Friday, January 5. Task Force Alpha means that all fire stations, including those of neighboring cities, shall respond to the alarm. Police and responders from villages have also responded, along with members of emergency rescue units. As of 11:10 p.m., firefighters are still trying to put out the fire.

CEBU CITY—At least 18 firetrucks responded to put out the fire that broke out Friday night on the third floor of Metro Ayala inside Ayala Center Cebu at the Cebu Business Park, a business district operated by Cebu Holdings Inc., an affiliate of Ayala Land Inc.
The fire broke out at 9:48 p.m. from the toy department of Metro Ayala located on the third floor. The cause was still unknown as firemen are still in the process of containing the blaze.
Fire fighters, who didn’t have gas masks, had difficulty going inside the place where the fire originated because of the thick smoke.

As of this posting, the fire remains engulfing the portion of the mall at about 10:50 p.m. Friday.
