    Default Kingdom of Heaven...

I wonder if Harry Gregson William's score in KINGDOM OF HEAVEN is as good as his work in PHONE BOOTH and MAN ON FIRE...

He replaced Hans Zimmer, who has composed classic themes in my book those from THE ROCK and AS GOOD AS IT GETS.

Where is Russel Crowe when we need him badly?

There is very real craftsmanship in “Kingdom of Heaven” by director Ridley Scott (Gladiator, 2002). Not only he was able to stage moody battles in large set pieces; he was also able to place certain unmistakable relevance in the screenplay of William Monahan.

But Orlando Bloom, with his bleak and dark persona as Balian, brought the whole film down. In the beginning, it was acceptable for him to appear sad and quaint. But he was sad and quaint all throughout the film and we could only wonder why. He bedded the leprous king’s (Edward Norton)married sister (Eva Green), inherited the lordship of Ibelene --- everything on a silver platter --- and yet he remained so enigmatic he did not even show a tooth.

If not for the currency of the fluke of the Christian crusades in 12th century --- in the context, for example, of how Christian settlers now arrogating the whole of Mindanao at the expense of Muslim cultural communities --- “Kingdom of Heaven” would have wasted all the good talents behind the camera.

Legolas was a better Orlando Bloom in all counts.

P.S. Balian might have lost the walled city. But he succeeded to save a whole nation. And, MrBiddle, the score was very handsome --- especially the contralto section.

the movie is great specially during the siege tower scene..edward norton's voice really fits the role of a king in a mask...eva green was a gorgeous-hot-mama, but her freckles was discouraging during camera close ups... i'll score it 9/10 for a great EPIC movie

I think mao ni surrender nila ang Jerusalem bec. Balian was fighting for the people not for the wall.

I'm glad this movie was made. Although there were a lot of glaring errors (how on earth can an uneducated blacksmith - as blacksmiths were in those days - become so adept in engineering, warfare and fencing in such a short amount of time?) I let them slide because I appreciated how the film decided to focus on why Muslims, Jews and Christians have so much animosity today.

Although the film was fiction, it was about The Crusades - an event whose aftershocks are still felt to this day.

For those who don't know, here's a little info about the Crusades:

This movie shows how good and evil are never as simple as they seem, and to demonstrate that even the motives of a villain may emerge from a goodness of heart and vice versa.

Wa lang ko ganahi pag portray sa pari aning salidaha. Gibugalbugalan gyud ug maayo ni Ridley Scott ang pari. Pwede ra man unta isingit sa role ang pari in a good light ba. Mura man ug iyang gihimong tanga. Compared how he treat the Muslim characters, very positive, very careful and respectful kaayo.

It sends a wrong message kay sa ato pa, mamomba sa ta ani ug building para dili ta bugalbugalan. Ang pari kay di man mo himo ug terroristic acts gi daut gyud ug maayo ni Ridley Scott.
