    WORKING IN SINGAPORE 101
    (as of Sep.2017)

    SINGAPORE
--- about 3 hrs 40 minutes flight away from Cebu
    --- exchange rate: P37 to SG$1 na!
    --- work-week schedule are mostly 6-days or 5-days

    COST OF LIVING
    Rent
----- this is the biggest chunk of our expense diri
----- If you can find a place near your workplace, the best. Kanang maglakaw nalang to work.
----- But SG is not that big. Public transpo is very efficient. So bisag layo pa ka sa work nagpuyo, OK gihapon.
----- Depende sa imong gusto, you can opt to occupy a whole flat or just a whole room, or just a bed space
    -------- Whole Flat/Unit -- S$1,800 pataas
    -------- Whole room ----- S$700 pataas
-------- Bedspace -------- S$300 pataas (i fully suggest nga 2 to 3 pax lang in a room. 2 pax will be ideal)
-------- It's best to share the unit/room with fellow Bisdaks/Pinoys are less ang friction
----- The usual rent scenario is 1 month advance and 1 month deposit + agent fee of 1 month's rent equivalent
----- If makakita ka'g place nga wala nag-need og agent fee, maka-save jud ka

    Food
----- Depende sa imong gusto kaunon kada-adlaw.
----- Can be as low as S$3 per meal to S$10 per meal.
----- Para nako, S$5 per meal is OK naa kaayo nga food.
----- Cooking at home/Mag-bawn is a very good option pod

    Utilities & Internet
----- kuryente, tubig, lpg , WiFi
----- usually, divided equally sa tanan nga nagpuyo sa haus
----- pero usahay, depende pod sa inyong gikasabutan

    Transportaion
    ----- Bus, Train (MRT)
-------- mogamit ka og EZ Link Card ani. Mapalit sa MRT station.
-------- this is the cheaper option.
-------- dont worry, I'd say efficient kaayo ilang public transport system
    ----- Taxi, Uber, Grab
    ----- Bicycle
-------- pwede pod, aron wala gasto sa plete
----- Pero the best jud if you stay within walking distance form your workplace IF ok nimo

    AirFare
----- Ako ni ipuno kay daku-daku pod ni og chunk sa ato sweldo
----- If magsige ka'g uli, i fully suggest nga mangatang ka og airfare promos
----- CebuPacific, PAL, AirAsia, Tiger, SilkAir, Scoot
----- Booking for airfares months away from your bakasyon date is better kay cheaper usually.
----- You can go home as many as you like with no limits (syempre, apply ka'g leave from your employer)

    How to find a Job
Mostly, ONLINE and/or via EMAIL jud ang job application diri.
    -------- Apply ka via online.
-------- If they like you (shortlisted ka), they will call you for face to face interview
-------- Sa interview, dapat dressed accordingly (kamo na interpret).
-------- Tips: Study the nature of company; Study the job scope as per posted
    -------- If ma-HIRED ka, congrats.
Naa'y walk-in but very very very less kaayo.
Send as many job applications as you can.
Do not neglect tiny ads in the papers, if naa hiring for you, apply'yi.

    JOB FINDING/APPLICATION PROCESS
    1) You apply
----- Send an email with resume attached.
----- Apply to as many jobs as you can.
    2) There are job placement agencies in Singapore
----- If sila ang nitawag nimo, you will not be paying a single cent.
----- They called you becaused ni-match ka sa gipangita sa ilang client (your prospect employer)
----- They will interview you before they endorse you (can be many rounds of interviews)
----- After that, the "prospect employer" will interview you pod.
    2) Ma-hired ka by the company
----- Naa'y quota system diri to hire foreigners (Locals : Foreigners) As of Aug.2017, it's 5:1 or 20%
    3) Pangayuan ka'g requirements
    ----- copy of Passport
----- Diploma (call it University Certificate or Degree Certificate)
    ----- TOR
    ----- Other certificates & elibilities
----- Never falsify kay masakpan jud ka
    4) Apply'yan ka og "Work Pass" a.k.a. working visa
    ----- can be work permit, S-Pass, E-Pass, P-EP, etc
----- Just check on this at M0M's website
----- will also state kung pila imong sweldo
    5) If i-approve ni M0M (goverment), good!
----- Bisag unsa pa nimo ka-maayo og bisan unsa pa ka-love ang company nimo, if the government does not approve you work pass, zero lang gihapon.
    6) Taga-an ka og IPA (in principle approval for your work pass)
----- If naa'y additional requirements, ila i-state sa IPA
    7) Collection og work pass card
----- IPA must be signed by you and employer
----- If naa, you must submit the additional requirements (medical check, x-ray, blood test, atbp)
8 ) Validity of pass is for 2 years normally.
----- Naa pod 3 years and more.
----- Shorter for training pass holders, months lang gani ni.
    9) Then you can start to work na
----- By the way dili allowed mag-sideline diri (earning from a diff source other than your job; they call it moon-lighting. Ang Lokalz & PR's ra pwede)

    Where to find Jobs:
    1) Online - Online - Online !!!
    ----- monster.com.sg
    ----- jobstreet.com.sg
    ----- sg.jobsdb.com
----- pinoy facebook groups nga pang-SG (ex: bisdaksg, etc)
    ----- update your LinkedIn profile
    ----- techinasia.com/jobs
    ----- google "singapore job portals"
-------- Apply to as many jobs as you can. Beat the odds in numbers.

    2) Newspaper : The Straits Times
----- Sabado edition is best kay medyo daghan og listing
----- But for just S$1, palit kada-adlaw oi. Basin naa sa weekday edition imong swerte

    3) JobsBank.gov.sg
----- For some companies, posting at jobsbank first is mandatory
----- The Gov't requires them to offer the jobs to locals first
----- You can/may apply to jobs here if you want to, no harm trying

    Salary Levels / Pay Grades
--- Depende og pila'y i-offer sa company nimo.
--- Ang work passes naa'y minimum salary threshold.
--- Visit lang M0M's website for this.
    --- S Pass .. at least S$2,200 a month
    --- E Pass (employment pass) .. at least S$3,600 a month
--- Work Permit, Personalized EP, Training Pass, etc ... read nalang from the link above

-------- Lucky for you, pwede na 10 years ang validity sa passport (very soon)
    ---- OWWA Membership

    Remittance
    ---- Remittance Centres
-------- Naa'y daghan sa Lucky Plaza a.k.a. LP or the Little Philippines in SG
-------- You can remit to your loved ones, kumpares and kumares
    -------- Naa'y S$5 charge per remittance/payment transaction

    2) Mag-unsa man na imong maayo nga job title kung wala ka'y trabaho.
    3) Your "pass" is the contract with the government, employer and you.
